My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

I graduated from Japanese in 1980 and was then assigned to Tokyo. During my time in Tokyo my unit had two much money in their funds so they gave me a large sum if money to study one-on-one conversation study, about 450 hours. DLI did good but the time at Berlitz built on that. I left the Army in 1989 and started working for a Japanese company and retired 10 years ago. I still live in Tokyo at age 71.

I still get so angry. I had recruiters from every branch come to our house. They said based on my scores I would have a very successful career ahead of me after going through the DLI. I’m still very bitter. My heart disease never would have allowed me to pass my PT.

Isn't dressing up in that cultures' apparel considered culture appropriation? I know some who would say yes, but never say it is by the natives of that country.

@@good1day726 I'm aware of this and appreciate your comment, but I was just bringing it to attention how white Americans are attacked for being part of an official event like this across the country, when it is appreciated by the natives. That's all.
