The upgrade package, valued at more than $985 million, covers the cost of bringing the RMAF’s 23 existing F-16C/D Block 52+ aircraft up to the F-16V standard, as well as a variety of other ancillary items and support services.

Morocco is indeed the oldest "continuous" ally and oldest friend the United States had since the time Morocco recognized the US as an independent free nation in 1777 becoming thus the first sovereign nation to do so. Actually Tangiers was the location of America's first embassy in the World. And Morocco's relationship with America has never been broken since as it was the case with other current allies like France and Germany. The strategic location of Morocco at the tip of Africa facing both the Atlantic ocean and the Mediterranean sea right across from the strait of Gibraltar is a great asset for the US.

Morocco has the best trained ground military troops in all of Africa, they do regular practice & exercises with the USA military troops, Morocco has one of the best secret services in the world aligned with their allies. Moroccan Navy controls our shores, we have US military bases in Morocco is there a bigger insurance policy than that? I understand that you are unhappy with the outdated F1 & F5 & agree they are not fit for purpose in today's modern militaries, but having F16s in the Kingdom of Morocco military arsenal is not of top priority as it an air combating plane with very high maintenance costs & parts. Morocco does not rely on petroleum as their source of wealth so funds are not so easily obtainable so Morocco has diversified it's GDP to property developing project's, mining, & foreign investments, business & free trade. 4.8 Billion US dollars for 25 F16s is ludicrous and more importantly useless as our neighbours Algeria acquiring the Russian s400 air defence system which would shoot those F16s out of the sky as if you were clay pigeon shooting. I agree Morocco needs to upgrade their defence of their territory with an air defence system of there own for half the price & far far more effective and far more bigger deterrent to any aggressors to towards our beloved country 🇲🇦

Serbia had a few of them, and three of them were taken down by F-15's, and two of them by F-16's. Iraq also had MIG-29's, with five of those being taken out by F-15's. And two syrian MIG-29's were shot down by F-15's. Germany even sold 22 of their MIG-29's to Poland for 1€ each. I think Israel and the Netherlands are quite happy with the F-16's. Morocco will be too.

Even Americans trust Morocco more than some NATO countries,so i think morocco deserve to have Access to a more sofisticated US weapon than the f-35.

As the economy grows, so do opportunities for employment and income growth. Stronger labor markets and higher income levels tend to help those families living in poverty move above the poverty threshold BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE THERE! I work for an international agency and I have been to your country, I spent almost 2 months roaming around, I wouldn’t agree with what you say. On the other hand South Africa economy is booming,the GDP per capita is ridiculous and again infrastructure is by far the best in the continent! I am not arguing or trying to compare two nations but I wanted to highlight the fact that buying (almost decommissioned) jets for that amount of money is not only a bad decision but strategically would be a failure on the mid term!
