My favorite tip to help is if your the last car in line at a dead stop on a highway or a light. And there’s cars coming up at a distance at full speed. Tap your brakes fast to make your brake lights flash. It will grab their attention that there’s cars at a dead stop

Nice one mate! Can you make defensive techniques video to avoid rear collision, like to avoid someone crashing from back.
@nukem3843 жыл бұрын
There's really only 1 thing you can try and do about that one. Pretty much you need to be alert, and if you see someone coming way too fast behind you, hopefully there's nobody in front of you or there's room, but you've got to floor it and give them more space to stop. It may still be unavoidable, but that's your best chance.

Is another suggestion to not hog the overtaking lanes and stay in the right most lane?
@EagleLogic5 жыл бұрын
Great video! Except you should never pass semi trucks on the right side. They have a much larger blind spot on the right side. I've even seen signs behind semi trucks that have an arrow that points to the left that says "pass" and an arrow that points to the right that says "suicide". Of course, sometimes, passing on the left isn't an option.

also think about whether you can see the driver's face in their mirror-or at least see the mirror sometimes you may have to be besides a truck (for instance if it is passing you) but you don't want to be there longer than necessary also be extra paranoid about parallel turn lanes and big trucks-they may spill into both lanes and usually will try to get the outside lane (or at least the lane that allows them to have the other turn lane on their own driver's mirror side),not the other blinder side mirror

@nukem3846 жыл бұрын
use your brakes! unless you want to ruin your engine. i wouldnt recommend doing that
@dominicancheif1176 жыл бұрын
nukem384 How? I've heard the opposite being said and that it's bad for your transmission if you do it too much. Lately I've been keeping a decent following distance from the car in front of me to use engine braking and avoid using my brakes.
@nukem3846 жыл бұрын
STI555 i meant both in a way. Youre basically stressing the tranny and engine by doing that when you really dont need to. Think of it this way, whats cheap to fix, brakes or engine/tranny? But it all depends on how you like driving, if you find it fun and like doing it, go for it, im not stopping you!
@Dortchskii4 жыл бұрын
For the majority of drivers using your service brakes (brake pedal) is sufficient and nothing more is required. There's 2 scenarios for using engine/transmission braking. Both of which are to reduce brake fade One is high speed driving (like really highspeed driving. Not the type you'll be doing on any public roads) The other is for towing. If you're towing a heavy trailer especially downhill then you will want to use a lower gear. The rule of thumb for 4 wheelers is 1 gear lower than you went up with. The rule of thumb for big trucks is 2 gears lower than you went up with. Perform the downshift before descending the mountain/hill (Warning: never attempt to downshift a manual while going downhill. You risk damage to your clutch pack and involvement in an accident)
@dominicancheif1174 жыл бұрын
Daniel Dortch I use engine braking mostly because my car does it automatically when I take my foot off the gas, it helps me keep my speed in traffic so I don’t have to accelerate from zero all the time

Also pacing people prevents people from passing causing people behind you to get frustrated and will cause a crash. Always allow faster traffic to PASS!

I didn't really get your last comment from the 'Bonus' - what did the car to your right do wrong? I could only see them signaling to switch lanes. Also, why do you assume that woman was a bad driver? From the video it's not clear :/
@nukem3844 жыл бұрын
The car almost crashed into me because she wasn't looking and was merging over assuming I wasn't there. If I hadn't slammed on the brakes and moved to the left side of the lane, she would've for sure hit me. Also, as mentioned, but not really shown in the video, is she almost did the same thing with the gold Honda van about 10 seconds later. This particular driver is 100% a bad driver making 2 mistakes in a matter of seconds. I said she because in this particular incident, I saw the driver, which was a woman. I'm not stereotyping women as bad drivers, it was just this one specific incident.

Left lane for passing only don’t forget to say, it’s not the cruising lane.
@Kevinb18212 жыл бұрын
Also if someone starts to merge into your lane. Don’t be that guy who speeds up. You see these accidents all the time and I’m sorry but you’re the bigger ahole if you speed up as someone is trying to merge into your lane. Even if that guy is in the wrong. Don’t speed up!
@tt39255 жыл бұрын
Production quality is good, but some of these recommendations will get you killed. Speeding up is never the answer. Slow down, maintain proper following distance, don't drive distracted.

Speeding up to pass a big rig or semi-truck is the only answer. Never stay along side them while at cruising speed.

Yes but why would you just sit there and let them hit you. Fun fact: there are what is referred to as partial at fault accidents and avoidable accidents. They can also affect your insurance rates even if you aren't declared at fault.

but if they are at fault it will still be a lot of lost time,trouble and perhaps money if you get hit and could have avoided it
