This lesson introduces the antenna array factor. Antenna arrays consisting of a collection of identical elements are usually characterized in terms of their array factor. The array factor of any given array of identical antenna elements is a product of the number of elements, the relative input signals (magnitude and phase) of the various elements, and the geometric arrangement of the elements. This course was created for Ansys Innovation Courses by Dr. Kathryn Leigh Smith, assistant professor, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, in partnership with Ansys.

Very interesting video. Didn't know that an array emission could be calculated that easily. Could I ask you what are the validity of that method. I can see that it is calculated in far field. So, I guess, firstly we have r_observation >> 2D_max^2/lambda for big antennas or r>>lambda for electrically small ones. Are there conditions on a array size, antenna element size?
