7:20:32 - So, what you missed here, the reason Connor was hesitant with what he was saying to Hank, is he saw Markus's model number. RK 200. Markus was the prototype for the RK series, the same series as Connor, with Connor being an RK 800. He's dealing with the fact an RK series is a deviant.

Detroit changed me. Never played another game that affected me so much. Also related to some characters a lot because our life experiences had some similarities. One of the BEST games I have ever played. Masterpiece. Also as opposed to many games where endings or certain sections change to some limited degree, this game literally has such a huge number of paths. I played it multiple times, and got to experience things I didn't in previous playthroughs, sometimes completely new sections. Truly amazing.

First time through, I got to the two cops being fairly passive. Watching the cops blindly shoot droids for no reason changed everything for me. Choices have consequences, and if you want to be treated with respect, you need to be willing to fight back against those who would destroy or control you. I was generally determined but not aggressive after that right up until the freedom march had the SWAT line try to open fire on us without any reason. After that, all bets were off. They didn't have any fear of consequences to destroying droids. If you want equal rights, you need to /make/ them listen, so I charged.
@StefanVeenstra2 жыл бұрын
The choices you make during the first, blind playthrough without influences of others or hindsight, actually reflects the players personality quite accurately.
@WynneL Жыл бұрын
@@Adanu191 Public outrage gets you farther than murders that make humans think the government's actions are justified. Stooping to their level only justifies the "scary violent dangerous malfunctioning androids" narrative. If you don't stoop to their level, you make them look like the garbage they are no matter how the media tries to spin it, and then you have many more powerful organic allies rather than just hoping you manage to wipe out the whole human race before the White House bombs Detroit. Androids are immune to radiation but not massive explosions. The military's firepower is vastly superior. The aggressive path is the path of doom, not freedom.
@WynneL Жыл бұрын
@@StefanVeenstra That is so true. Like the ticket choice at the bus station: that will tell you whether you're too nice. I've sometimes called the game a personality test of sorts. I can't name another game that teaches you about yourself to that degree.
@Tantalus0102 жыл бұрын
Something that always strikes me as ironic about this game: at around the 10:13:00 mark, Connor is being led through the Cyberlife building by a human guard. If you think about it, though, what's actually happening is you have a rudimentary AI pretending to be human leading a human (the player) pretending to be an android.

This game is one of the best games with amazing story telling and such complex character diversity, especially the three main characters. Connor: Part of the human side, develope a sense of empathy or remains cold hearted, converted into fighting for freedom or remain coldly obedient and under order no matter the consequences, whether it's good or bad. Markus: Leader of the revolution, fights for the freedom of his people, resolves violence with violence or violence with peace. Kara: Part of the ones that holds no power, striving purely to survive in the midst of chaos with friends she's bonded with through her hardships. There are without a doubt better words to use to express their complexity, but this is all I could think of with my small brain

Glad you guys finally started this! Also the mid chapter discussions are a nice to get all your thoughts. Kara's story is still my favorite her soundtrack is just so powerful it enhances the already powerful story behind her. That being said Connor is also so cool in the way he works in this game. When Todd chases Kara and Alice I went to the room on the right and got the gun. I won't spoil how that ends, but it was quite brutal. I think I played the game in a way that I figured the characters would do things if they were real. So Kara did everything she could do protect Alice, Markus became peaceful like his former master that cried for him not to do anything violent, since that was only going to make things worse(until I accidentally got him killed, which did turn him into a marter, so still kinda good) and Conner was on mission up until sexbot club thingy, which to me was a good moment for him to realize orders might not be everything and then after the meeting with creator guy, he fully went deviant in all his decisions. That made the most sense to me personally. This is def a top 5 of all time for me. there's so much choice and variations and ALL of them matter in one way or another!! It's so cool!
@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames2 жыл бұрын
Great way to play it! We like playing this game like writing a story. So similar to you where we think about how the character would act and what they would do. @@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I haven't finished watching the playthrough yet -- am currently doing so, but despite playing multiple times, there are still things in your playthrough that I hadn't seen before! I'm glad you both loved it. I think not playing it perfectly is the best way to experience this game for the first time. My only dislike of the game is that it isn't as smooth as it could be: when I played it originally on the PS4, the controls were clunky -- this wasn't an issue when I played it on PC (I grabbed it when it was free on Epic, but there were numerous parts of the game, where despite my PC being able to handle games like Detroit, it would randomly turn into a slideshow. Sadly, one such time was when I'd gotten something I'd never gotten to see before, but I tried not to let it ruin the experience.

Thanks for playing my favorite game and I'm so glad you enjoyed it ♥ I appreciate that you all took the time to discuss your thoughts throughout the story. You played well and played smart but definitely misinterpreted some things :) I would love to see alternate playthroughs :) Just a little note to explain the flowchart. The percentages won't always add up to 100%. For example, let's say at a party of 20 people, 10 people ate pizza. 5 of those people ate pepperoni and 5 ate cheese. The flowchart would show that 25% of those 20 total people had pepperoni pizza and 25% had cheese pizza... Adding up to only 50% because that's the amount of people who were on that particular path. I hope that makes sense :)

That whole camp part was completely avoidable too. But I do think it's the most interesting route.

Fun fact: the man that plays as Detective Hank, Clancy Brown, does the voice for Mr. Krabs in Spongebob.

You know I just thought... What an amazing time we living at... I mean... I, russian speaking guy who never was in US spend my evenings watching you guys playing games and reacting videos. And I can understand you while I've never lived in English speaking country and I like watch your videos, to experience emotions with you though you've never seen me. I mean... You just imagine that: a couple of guys became part of life of the guys who lives on the other end of the earth just because of common game choice. Wow.

If you want another great story based choiced based question game, I recommend "Telltale's The Walking Dead" and "Telltale's The Batman".
