Ed is a clone of M. Bison and was raised by Balrog, that why he has psycho powers but fights like a boxer. He is in mission to save other M. Bison experiment/ clones

So the punch that looks like Ed's arm streches is called a Flicker Jab and it is an actual boxing technique. In anime and games it is usually given extra spice by having the arm extend unnaturally.

Apparently in SF6 Ed is being chased/tracked by the remainder of old shadoloo since M.Bison’s death, with FANG using AKI to track him whilst JP (who’s at odds with FANG) is trying to coerce him to be the new leader of Shadoloo At the same time Ed is on a mission to track and free others like him who were subject to M.Bisons experiments and form a new shadoloo

So for reference, there are four primary forms of boxing. They are slugger, swarmer, out-boxer, and puncher-boxer. Slugger style is the most straightforward, it sacrifices technique for raw endurance and powerful but slow strikes. This is the style that Balrog, Ed's mentor, is fond of since he is a simple minded person. Swarmer style is all about getting inside an opponent's reach and using rabid fire punches to score a knock out. Sort of a high risk high reward style of fighting as a good Slugger can just ko them with a single well-placed hit when they go in close. This looks like how Ed fights given he has moves that allows him to get in close against opponents with projectiles or a longer reach than him. Out-boxer is a very technically sound style as it focuses heavily on evading attacks, wearing you out until they can land a ko punch. Foot work is very important in this style, so a good out-boxer can just evade a sluggers punches and make use of the openings their heavy-handed strikes make but struggle with swarmers since a swarmer is constantly trying to get in close. The most famous out-boxer irl is Muhammad Ali but in video games it is TJ Combo from Killer Instinct. Puncher-boxer is an odd boxing style. It often combines techniques from the other three making a very unpredictable style depending on what the main styles that influenced the person using it. There aren't many famous video game characters who use this style as most developers focus more on the traditional Triangle Theory of Boxing. Essentially slugger beats swarmer, swarmer beats out-boxer, and out-boxer beats slugger.
@advocate_of_HAKAI9 ай бұрын
Based on his moveset Ed is a puncher-boxer then. He's got slugger hits, he can swarm and he can outpunch too because he's got good mobility in and out of the pocket, unlike Dudley and Balrog

Ed is connected to M.Bison, in that he was an experiment from Shadaloo where they wanted to implant a child with Psycho powers either as a vessel for Bison, or just a super soldier to use. But as you saw from his fighting style, he’s more of a boxer. And that’s because Balrog pretty much raised the kid for his own benefit. Now for what Street Fighter game to actually start with? The only one that starts having a story mode is Street Fighter 5. Which not a lot of people have very fond memories of, as far as I remember. It was a step up in storytelling (compared to the previous games at least), but the stuff within the story just wasn’t pleasing to some people. Weekly “Insane Lore of Street Fighter” suggestion: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZnClmN8es13arc Oh yeah, just a reminder, the video covers everything before 6. And there’s actually a lot more street fighter games he doesn’t cover because they are their own separate stories, so think like an alternate universe.

The fighting game community is very excited for Ed, because he was so poorly received in the last game. His design and control scheme were a huge let down, and this trailer definitely got people heavily anticipating this reworked version of him. Glad to see you two liked him as well!
@neph609810 ай бұрын
Ed was a lab rat from birth, witch wasn't that long ago, since Shadaloo aged him quickly, for reasons, making him a pissed off brat, wich makes sense, but when you find him, he says he just wants to be free from Shadaloo, with his ''Family'', the other experiments from the same lab, so he has a soft side too.

Ed has psycho powers. He was one of M Bison's lab rats. He was gonna be his new body, after his old body bites the dust. In SF4 Balrog found him in the lab's wreckage, so he takes Ed with him. He even trained Ed boxing. In SF5 he beats up Balrog, and leaves to fulfill his own journey.

For story modes. SF5 tried to do a more cinematic, MK style story mode. It didn't turn out well. Some people says it's bad, some people say it's "so bad it's good" For SF6 they went in a completly different direction. Its a mini open world RPG that uses street fighter as a battle system. You play as a new character that you design, you equip special moves from the main cast you meet along the way. I liked it a lot. It's a lower stakes story where the fate of the world isn't on the line and you can see main cast in a more casual light. Personally i found it to be best fighting game single player mode. Because it's not just a bunch of regular fights with cut scenes between them. That being said the main story isn't on par with what you would find in an MK game, but all the stuff happening around the story is what elevated it above for me. I would go with 6 first as it is a MUCH better intro to the world of street fighter than 5's. 5 kind of assumed you knew most of the cast to begin with whereas you can actually get to know them in 6

World tour could, at the very least, allow you mimic every move off of a legendary warrior ... not being able to have both a QCF punch and a QCF kick is painful ... especially because that particular compromise only exists because of modern controls.

So slight issue with starting into street fighter. You can start at 6, because it was created with new players in mind, but if you want lore, people are going to be out of the loop unless they do their own research. That is because, unknown to some people, Street Fighter is a crossover game amongst multiple games. So many games that if you want to know the backstory behind multiple characters, you have to play the other game they originated from.
