My little friend, Listen, my friend, Peace is the dream of the people. Hearts old and young Never have done Singing the song you have sung. May there always be sunshine, May there always be blue skies, May there always be mommy, May there always be me! Soldier lad, stay! Hear what we say - War would make all of us losers. Peace is our prize, Millions of eyes Anxiously gaze at the skies. May there always be sunshine, May there always be blue skies, May there always be mommy, May there always be me! Down with all war! This fucking shit deserves every Oscar possible. It's by far the greatest 5 minutes of anything I've ever seen on a screen. Great scenes and I love the damn song and especially the final scene. It pretty much sums true warfare. The young so similar yet killing eachother while those higher up just stand and watch. The focus on the fact that these men were someone's innocent child hits pretty deep too. Wish more people would think about this when watching TV and wishing death on people they don't even know🕊

That was a lot to absorb. Just looked the game up, and it's a RTS. So you're technically playing the old guys that are issuing the commands and every soldier on the field is pretty much just a faceless number and statistic.
@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames3 жыл бұрын
Well that makes us want to play it even less haha. Why would we want to play as the depicted villains in this story. Odd choice for promotional material but the trailer was well done otherwise. 😢🤗
@yannym46053 жыл бұрын
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames It is a strange choice for promotional material, but RTS games can be really fun. I tend to be bad at them cause I'm constantly trying not to get anyone on my side killed. So I tend to play very defensively until I've built an overwhelmingly massive army that will steamroll over the opposition. It's a terrible strategy, especially when going up against other players cause being aggressive lets you grow your army faster and stronger by taking more land and resources. Starcraft and Warcraft (not World of Warcraft) are RTS games. Age of Empires is a very popular series. There might be trailers for it somewhere.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames The one you’re playing as is a good guy, but I know the reason why they stay behind. The reason why is because back then, their leaders are the strongest and that they can take their foes on even more. Nowadays, if their leaders go out, then there’s a high chance they’d get shot by a sniper and moral will immediately plummet, seeing their national leader getting shot in the head by a sniper. It’s more for safety reasons as they don’t want their generals to be killed by snipers since they’d usually target officers.

Yea colonels ( as these guys are the equivalent of) are often the highest ranked field officers and without them guiding forces then a lot more men would die faster,(and during ww2 more civilians would have died.) Often the frontline leaders are sargents.The most important character (to me) is the russian soldier with the pistol calling up the charge, i believe its supposed to be a representation of an actual event. In the time before guns it made sense for officers to be there to guide their forces. In this day and age (as well as ww2 to a fair extent) communications are far better and the colonel can better guide his forces

Also a little history behind the cinematic at the start you see the fresh Germany Army besieging the city of what we can assume is Stalingrad, in 1942 this battle was a major turning point within the second world war as Germany committed troops and lost a large number of resources to the battle. after that we can see German bomber formations being attacked by American fighters which look to be P-51's. American didn't get involved within the European theatre on a larger scale until 1943-1944. So we can assume that the war has moved on by a few years. then we see Germans fighting on open ground against Russian soldiers, my mind originally thought the battle of Kursk in 1943, i could be wrong but that's my hunch. which was one of the last major last ditch efforts by the German forces on the eastern front. every day after that was a constant retreat back into Poland and then Germany. I'm a history teacher, and i love teaching my students about the horrors of the second world war and telling them how lucky they are these boys fighting back then were 17 or older some even younger. The hardships they went through are nothing like we have today not to mention a lot of these boys didn't have a choice if they deserted or ran they were shot by their own side, and even if they surrendered they risked being killed anyway. And as I keep reminding them this war (WWII) wasn't all that long ago around 75-80 years from the top of my head. As long as we appreciate what they went through for what we have now the world will continue to be a better place. Also Great React guys really good watch!

The big problem with senior officers personally leading their soldiers is that it places them at great risk: while you covered the personal angle, there's also a wider one that you can't just train up another general with decades of experience commanding troops as you can for an infantryman. The British had this issue in World War One, where early on they were losing so many senior staff personally leading their forces that there were serious worries that it would affect the military's ability to function.

A vere nice reaction for this gem of a trailer but theres a lot to unpack here First that leader from the front troupe was only partially true in the ancient times cause most times they would surround themselves with their more elite troops (and some time there only professional soldiers) but with the advent of cannons and gunpowder weapons we saw a reduction on something that was limited because a random cannon fire could kill the most important member of your society and cause a collapse back home and this was mark even harder on the killing fields of ww 1 Second in the soviet case there are a lot of hight ranking officers that died while personally leading his soldiers trying to break out of a encirclement like colonel general (and front commander) Mikhail Kirponos Also the Soviets were facing an extermination war and that was some of the reasons they showed the tenacity that ultimately won them the war And in many of the cultural expression from the soviet union and former soviet states were they represent the true horrors of war (movies like father soldier and come and see come to mind and even in the song victory day they day Day of victory gunpowder was your smell we have long you to much and we recieved you with happiness but with sadness in out eyes Also the theres a huge attention to detail both on guns and moments like that scene when a young officer with a pistol in hand leads his soldiers to charge only to be killed mere seconds is based on a real life photograph with the same outcome in which the young officer turned to be the battalion commander (and thus the fhoto is know as Kombat(battalion commander)) but in the last turn he was also the battalion commissar that took charge when the original battalion commander was either death or wounded (I will edit this to find the time stamp 5:03) And also the point of this trailer it's not to make you play the game but rather to make the game know worldwide and to have a emotional connection to its playerbase

The beauty of this reaction that i really liked is that the two of them hardly speak during the video they are reacting to itself. They watch intently and absorb all the action, emotions and messages and spill their thoughts, opinions and emotions AFTER its over. Thats awesome. There are other reaction channels that talk way too much during the actual videos they are reacting to or even worse they PAUSE the video too many times so they can throw in their teo cents in the middle of the video. That crap is super annoying. But these two make none of those mistakes and nailed it.

I absoluty agree with you two on the impact of an Leader leading by example, well except for dany, but the difference between the period u are reffering to are medieval ages or Ancient Greece. War itself had its industrial revolution and scaled up not only in technology but in Numbers aswell. William Wallace and his 6000-20000 scots? Peanuts in modern Terms. Here u have Soviet and German forces fighting each other and the Numbers goes into Millions. So leading by example is pretty much impossible, so the soldiers put their hopes und faith in their direct superiors like in "Saving Private Ryan". War is not romantic these days, but wasnt in the past either, its still War and Man are slaughterd like pigs, just for some stupid Politicians and their stupid views. to be fair, the soviets did have their squad leaders lead by example. As a result their sergeants and other lower ranking officers were some of the first to get shot down since they were the first to run at the front and get out of the trench. They changed that later since they had a severe lack of personnel

Eastern Front was the most brutal front in the entire war, both sides disregarding rules of war. Germany signed the Geneva Convention. On the Eastern Front, they did not apply the Geneva Convention because the Soviet Union was not a party. The Germans murdered tens of thousands of Soviet POWs and hundreds of thousands more starved to death or were worked to death. The first test of Xylon B gas at Auschwitz was on Soviet prisoners of war. Later, the gas was used to murder millions. As an aside, the Soviets treated German PWs horribly also. Of the 90,000 Germans taken prisoner at Stalingrad, only about 5,000 returned home. On the Western front, by and large, the Germans behaved better toward prisoners of war, although they probably didn’t live up to the letter of the convention. The Germans treated Air Force prisoners pretty well, all things considered, because the British had so many German air force prisoners from the Battle of Britain. I’m sure western allied prisoners of war weren’t treated as well as German POWs were treated by the US but by and large, the camp conditions were tolerable, especially when the prisoners got Red Cross food packages.

I agree with you guys about leading soldiers by example and how a leader should respect and protect those ranked below them. But many leaders should not be directly in the battle because of the risk it poses. It's not as simple as 'I want them to directly lead because it feels nicer'. Obviously the generals in this video are jerks(of course they're going to paint a Nazi as an a-hole) but the reality is that having seasoned war veterans as leaders actually prevents more loss of life; ideally the leader has been thru various kinds of combat and with that experience can make hard decisions to prevent further loss(of course, I am excluding people who didn't earn their rank). You don't want experienced military people dying on the front line, just for some show of morale and comradery, because all that experience is lost and more lives are lost as a result, because inexperienced people move up the ranks into positions they should not be in. I know it feels nice to have leaders up front 'looking like they're leading', but practicality shows us that more people die if we make decisions based on emotion.

Yeah it’s something that can’t really be done these days and we get that. Plus, thinking back to Game of Thrones quote “Do you really think a good soldier makes a good king?” Some are born to lead. To inspire. To plan and strategize. Others are born to fight. It’s not fair usually but it’s life.

I heard you are Mandalorian fans, did you do Reactions to the Mando show episodes? Do you do ANY Reactions to TV show episodes? I can't find any on your channel. If you haven't seen them yet, I highly recommend you start Reacting to The Expanse. I promise it would double your subs. And we Screamin' Firehawks are the Best Fans Alive. Worried about copyright claims? Just keep the Expanse vid content to under 10m per ep. And, of course, actually critique every episode.

Hmm, we don’t have Amazon Prime. And we’ve done some reactions before to tv shows. Like we did one for first two episodes of Wandavision but didn’t get much interest in those. Of course that was before we grew as much as we have. We aren’t opposed to reactions of TV shows just haven’t made it a priority 🙃

Before long is a loaded question haha. All we can say is that we try to get through requests as best we can. We post our schedule for the upcoming week on Sundays at 12pm. That way you don’t have to wait each day hoping it’s the day we’ll finally react to your request. You can see our schedule and see if any other vids might interest you while you wait. We appreciate the suggestions, the support, and everyone’s patience. We love that people are eager to share videos and franchises they are passionate about 🥰🥳
