This is 100% on Lamar and the play calling. Pat Mahomes and the offense went scoreless after scoring 17 in 3 drives. The Chiefs went scoreless in the 2nd half, despite not turning the ball over. The Ravens defense did what they were supposed to do. The Chiefs offense barely made it to the middle of the field in the 2nd half. The defense, after an outrageous fumble by Lamar, didn't allow a score by the Chiefs forcing a turnover on downs. They forced 5 punts. The Chiefs had 24 snaps in the entire 2nd half before their last drive to end the game. Lamar Jackson had 2 turnovers, both being on him. The Ravens regretted to run the ball at all. At the end of the game, the playcalling was a fly route on the left in every first down play and Lamar overthrew every single one. 82% of the offensive snaps Lamar dropped back when you were leading the league in rush attempts. And I understand that people wanna blame Zay Flowers for the touchback. He was the only reason why you got the ball there because he created incredible separation and got you in the redzone. He was the only reliable weapon all night. Best receiving option on either team not named Kelce. Big mistake but he played great. An absolute choke job. The Chiefs weren't giving the game away but the defense was literally giving you everything you need to make a 10 point comeback and you just couldn't because you regretted to run the ball and you made dumb mistakes. There is nothing about Pat Mahomes that was "GOAT level" play this game apart from the 2 drives they scored a TD in and the last pass he made to MVS. Him and the Chiefs offense looked hopeless for 2 and a half quarters of the game. It was suppose to be a one-sided game but Lamar and Harbaugh blew it.
@kerke463910 ай бұрын
@@jimbeam6691 you’re literally making excuses about punting and giving the ball to the opposing team. The best way to play in those situations is running the ball and getting first downs just to eat up the clock. And you could also go and make this a 3 score game pretty much ending the game before the clock does. They had 3 drives where they didn’t even get a single first down in the second half. You’re not getting significant time off the clock that way. The Ravens defense just locked them up in the 2nd, which is the simple truth. We’ve seen this before. Mahomes and that offense struggling to run the ball at all and make plays to get first downs. That cost them a Super Bowl appearance back in 2021 when Burrow and them boys came into Arrowhead and erased a 17 point deficit. Jackson clearly has tons of talent. His playoff failures always made me doubt his potential, until this season - I really thought this was going to be where he finally put it together and got a ring. So I was surprised by what a disaster this was. He made some terrific plays but someone with his tenure and five playoff games to have learned from should never be making such big mistakes. This was a golden opportunity - every other team in the division losing their starting QBs, the Chiefs and Bills and Eagles having bizarrely off regular seasons, Aaron Rodgers out for the season, etc. No way all those variables line up again, in addition to the big free-agent turnover likely to happen. Chiefs defense was incredible. Their gameplan was immaculate
@paythecreator431710 ай бұрын
Definitely was the best game plan Andy Reid has used thus far. But it really was a no brainer. He put the game in the best player on the Chiefs and who many think is the best player in the leagues hands as he should be doing. Just imagine how many blow outs the Chiefs would have if they ditched the keep it close play not to lose conservative game plan and instead put Mahomes in the no huddle and let him call more of his own plays on the fly to get into a better rhythm. Just imagine how often teams would be forced to burn a time out to get rest or subs into the game. The defense may miss Charles Omenihu. So they need to score a few more points and chew more clock.

@@paythecreator4317 Very good point. Mahomes is already one of the best players this league has ever had so they would probably win even more games. They need consistent receivers outside of Kelce
@paythecreator431710 ай бұрын
@@JeanMocombe True. There would no doubt be far more blow out wins. They had better receivers all along on the bench. Rice, Watkins, James, and Ross all should have taken MVS, Sky Moore, and Toney's spot for all the drops, lack of mental focus, lack of desire, lack production. Rice only got on the field by starters getting injured. And Ross with his height and size a natural red zone threat with Mahomes throwing accurate passes high still hardly gets on the field. The team missed Eric Bieniemy not being there to hold the receivers and everyone on offense accountable. They missed the good cop bad cop Reid and E.B. played. Took advantage of the nice guy Andy Reid.
@paythecreator431710 ай бұрын
@@JeanMocombe I will say MVS seems to be the Frank Clark prime time big stage producer who seems to focus and care a bit more when it matters most. Congrats for him to keep playing and demanding the most out of himself like E.B. would have forced him to be sooner. And Toney, and Sky Moore just needed someone to hold them accountable as well during the season. The signs wer on the wall on the value it would have given the team had Ross, Rice, and James had game time reps to build chemistry for the post season. And we already knew MVS, Toney, and Moore knew the offense and had repport with Mahomes already locked in.

This game highlighted what Cam Newton was trying to say with the whole game changers vs game managers convo. As a Patriots fan, the biggest compliment I can give Patrick Mahomes is that he has game changer talents, but chooses to focus and execute as a game manager because that is what the TEAM needs. This singular trait is why I have very little doubt that Mahomes will probably surpass Brady as the GOAT.

Only way Mahomes surpasses Brady is if he wins more SBs and/or does something Brady never did, like win 3 straight SBs or have a higher win percentage in the big game. Brady remains 2-0 H2H vs Mahomes in the playoffs, including the Super Bowl, and that will (unfortunately) never change.

Exactly, Allen kept them in the game. Yet he was ripped apart. The Bills defense couldn't stop KC there were 5 lead changes, Placheco ran for 6 yards a carry, and KC punted 1 time. Ravens' defense played great. Placheco ran for 2.8 yards a carry, and KC punted 6 times. In the second half, Mahomes only had like 60 yards passing, and 30 of them were the last play of the game.

It’s easy to say Lamar fell short and choked. I would argue that what we are seeing Patrick Mahomes do in his first 6 years as a starter, is far more interesting story. I understand in this day and age people’s attention spans are shortening and people tire easy of the same team being great. But we are watching someone who can summon his best effort every single time he hits the field. He studies constantly, and he raises the level of play for every single one of his teammates. Truly the #MVP and face of the league, right now.
@gbmbg11411 ай бұрын
Yea, Mahomes is gonna leave a long trail of opposing QBs who “didn’t do enough” or “couldn’t get it done”.. and I think it’s because he puts pressure on you to have to play a *perfect* game (and sometimes even better than that).. so any mistake is going to stick out like a sore thumb.. Mahomes leaves zero room for error..

Too many mental mistakes esp from flowers, braindead to be honest. It was a mistake bringing back andrews after such a long time out. KC and mahomes were too good, too experienced.
