Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show I'm your host Paul and after our breakdown of Terminator I promised I'd be back with another big Arnie Movie. This week I've decided to tackle the sci-fi action film Predator which is easily one of the best movies from the 80s. Like a lot of Arnies early action films the movies a classic and in this video we're gonna be breaking it all down. This includes the easter eggs, hidden details and also the making of trivia that shows just how good the movie really is.

Now weirdly the idea for predator was actually inspired by Rocky and a joke that one of the writers overheard. The punchline was that after Rocky 4 that Balboa had beat the Russians that he had no one else that he could fight. All that was left was Aliens and after a Rocky Vs ET joke this inspired screenwriter brothers Jim and John Thomas.
Now though they didn't necessarily lean into the Rocky thing they clearly took ideas from Rambo and in my research I actually expected to come across some stuff on Sly Stallone. Him and Arnie had a big rivalry at the time but unfortunately Sly fighting is something that we're gonna have to just imagine.

One of my local TV stations aired what they called "Sci-Fi Saturday" one weekend when I was perhaps 7 years old. They played Predator, then Predator 2, then Aliens, all back to back with no filler. It remains the single most joyful day of television I've ever watched. Thanks for doing these, I stumbled across the channel through your Terminator 2 video and was super impressed. So glad to come back for more!

I was lucky enough to visit the Predator filming location back in 2015. It's now a zip-line tourist attraction called Canopy El Eden, just outside of Puerto Vallarta. The enemy base camp seen at

This movie and Aliens are the two movies that made me absolutely love sci-fi. It came out 2 years before I was born so I grew up watching it on VHS repeatedly. I have a core memory of my mom telling me I was going to wear out the tape.

This movie, along with Commando, defined my childhood. My friends and I would watch it over and over, and go off into the woods and re-enact it. Even now, decades later, it hasn't aged. Just perfect.

John McTiernan knew how to make movies, man. He knew how to tread the line between giving the audience what they want and not treating them like babies. This movie does so much in that respect.

Always loved The Predator. It was way ahead of its time and still watch it now and again. The main thing that made it so epic is the Score. The music used in the scenes fits perfectly with whats happening and adds more emotion with each particular scene.
