I had to drive halfway across Dallas to see this in its theatrical release. It was a pretty interesting flick when it came out, but it spawned so many bad imitations in the ensuing decades that even though I enjoyed it, I ended up hating it because of what it inspired. (And driving halfway across Dallas in 1999, before your phone told you where to make turns was more of an ordeal than it sounds like these days!)

I was hyped when I saw Metal Sonic, and moreso when I saw MULTIPLE Metal Sonics, and then even Amy! But I don't like how quick and easy she destroyed them all...cos it looks like they're not very strong!

I didn't hate the film but I think it failed to really provoke thought like the first one did. I thought the musical numbers were kinda funny but didn't hit as hard as the dancing in the first. Phoenix's voice was somehow both raw & refined but Gaga's vocals were overproduced & had too much reverb. Ultimately, I don't think Folie a Deux really went anywhere. If Joker somehow found fans that the film makers did really want, they certainly did a good job of jettisoning them with the sequel... & were left with almost nobody. Just make films. Stop worrying about how people might interpret them. That's art - people get to interpret it how they want. The first film might have actually found some new appreciation with a different audience thanks to this CEO killing kid, but I think this sequel might have destroyed any interest in the franchise.

For me, since Shadow is alive, I think that a special series will be made about him. I have a hypothesis that says that Metal Sonic came from the future to kill Sonic, and here Silver will appear from the future after he was destroyed by Metal Sonic and go to save Sonic before it's too late.

I'm expecting Metal Overlord in the next movie. Especially since that with the metal sonic army all comes close to what Sonic the Comic did with Metal in that comic series, by making the Metalix.

When it was released I remember it wasn't that is wasn't liked. On the contrary it was really liked. The problem was at the time people were stunned by the revelation that it was to much to take in. People literally had to much information to process in the movie. Watching it a second time fills in those gaps if you didn't get it in the 1st place. My brain processed it on the fly and i enjoyed it a lot on the 1st watch. But those that saw it with me were puzzled and couldn't understand the story. When watched again they were like how did we miss that or i didn't get it at 1st and now i do.

@8:45 "They were NOT ALL proven to be faked good sir" I rmember when the two old men came out saying they did the ones in England. As crop circles became more main-stream, sciencists said that there is a noticable difference between ones created with string and planks of wood and those they really do not know how they were made. Some masive ones have been made in less then 2-4 hours over night. I would say most are and were fakes, but if you look into it, there are some strange things found inside the circles that they do not know how were formed.

I realized the plot twist halfway through the movie when they were having the party at that glass room at night. I always thought that the glass building was anachronistic and that there was something off. the first part was good, but yeah it was ok for the rest of the movie. I also do agree that the themes of fear and misinformation correlates what was happening with the war on terror.

also I was a history major so I was like geeking out on pointing out the anachronism, that's why I really like the VVITCH a lot because it took you to 17th century New England.

I love this movie. I was one of those many people you mentioned who rented it on VHS. It's a fantastic movie because it makes you think and had many layers of all kinds. If people say they don't like it, they don't appreciate a truly great movie when they watch one. He doesn't have always make movies with all these twits and turns. I'd love to see what else he can do with making movies. This movie is a classic, like Old Yeller. If you haven't seen that movie, I won't spoil it for you. I will only say I have only watched it twice. If you do watch Old Yeller, watch it knowing nothing about it. You will understand why if you do decide to watch this movie. Another great movie with HJO is Pay It Forward. I encourage you to rewatch it and to watch it for the first time. It's a hidden gem that people may need to see to help us now with its inspiration. 29:35

Only thing i don't like in the movie was "inverted oxygen", it should have been inverted CO2 since going backwards we would be exhaling oxygen and inhaling CO2.

I would be very wary about following someone who isn't afraid. True courage is not about being fearless. Being fearless is being stupid. True courage is being afraid and doing good anyway. The ones who feel fear but do good anyway are the ones that make the best leaders. Also, how wealthy would Edward have to have been since his ability to get more money would be severely limited and the need to keep paying the people who keep the secret would deplete his money.

Not sure if I agree with the analysis of the ending. We don't know for certain that the Predator decided to put in a delay timer to give Dutch a chance to escape. It could be that the delay is required because an overload or build-up has to happen before the detonation. There may not even be an option to simply cause an instant detonation.
