The blood and cheese moment was way to tame, Helena reaction was odd and it didn’t really pull at any heart strings. Telling her mother “they killed the boy” made it even more disconnected
@encyclopediaofelizabeth6 ай бұрын
I think it played out that way because of Halaena having prophetic visions. She saw this ahead of time and told them the correct bed thinking it would save the boy, but as is all too often that case she misinterpreted what would happen. That's why she seemed so shocked. As she walked around looking for help she was almost smother her daughter against her shoulder as well. @anthonyt1t56 ай бұрын
They seriously toned down the most messed up moment in the books. The kids were awake and had to witness their mother make the choice, they were not asleep like in the show. She chose the youngest to be killed since "he was too young to understand what was going on." Blood and cheese being twisted, killed the oldest instead. Not before taunting the younger one about how his mother wanted him dead. Most of the horror comes from them being awake and seeing their mother choose which of them should be killed. The showrunners seriously thought halaena walking in on her mother and criston getting nasty with each other was more interesting than staying faithful to the books. Noice. I was looking forward to this scene cuz of how dark and twisted it was but of course hbo being so woke or something, played it safe. =/

I don't think Helena's visions are that difficult to decipher. Beware of the beast beneath the boards was definitely about the coronation and the queen that never was bursting through the floor on her dragon. Helena saying she's scared of rats is obviously a reference to the rat catcher "Cheese" so I definitely believe she had a vision of sorts about the death of her son

The opening scene was so freaking phenomenal, seeing Winterfell, the Wall, and off course Cregan Stark himself. Loved it. Emma D'Arcy's Acting is remarkable, Aegon having his fun with Tyland at the small council was so great 🤣🤣 Still pretty conflicted about Alicent and Criston as well as how Blood and Cheese was done but other than that... a good first episode. Great being back in Westeros. Bring on episode 2.

As crazy as it sounds I was so excited to see how they would adapt Blood & Cheese but I was so let down. It should have been a bigger deal with more emotion with the children awake, but I guess it would be too much for TV

There’s a lot of room left on that tapestry before it ends at the bottom of the throne. Can’t wait to see if/what they add to it as the show goes on, kinda like how they changed the GOT intro when castles were taken over by others.

Helena's response was strange, the blood and cheese moment was way too mild, and it didn't really touch anyone's heart. It became even more strained when she informed her mother that "they killed the boy."

It will be interesting to see how Rhaenyra is viewed after this. That's her nephew, so even though she didn't technically order the action, she's a kinslayer too now.

One room that they haven’t shown in Dragonstone yet is the throne room. In GOT they showed Dany sitting in the throne room but they haven’t yet this series. I wonder if they’re gonna ever show that. Liked the first episode can’t wait till next week. Thank you for the video.

Their depiction of Blood and Cheese was ok but they were never after Aemond, specifically. It kinda makes the brutality they used more of an act of necessity, which makes Blood and Cheese a lil less frightening.

GoT and now HotD have always taken liberties with the story - the books are second and third hand knowledge of what witnesses believed happened - so they play around with the circumstances of the events - but the outcomes remain the same.
@BlackJustice26376 ай бұрын
Idk, I feel like it makes a lot of sense for the pair to go after the one who committed the crime. Especially since Alicent originally wanted luc's eye for aemond's

@@BlackJustice2637 It makes Rhaenyra seem less heartless. In the book, she didn’t care which son. It makes her less endearing to the audience.
@BlackJustice26376 ай бұрын
@donsolo123 I mean, I guess, but you're forgetting about her vendetta with Alicent. No way she wouldn't want to go directly after Aemond with the way the show depicted the lead up to this. It's also how the vast majority of people would act, it's more believable
