@elbobosan24 сағат бұрын
I can see that. It has stunning visuals and David is spellbinding. It’s just that the story is filled with many instances of smart characters being very very stupid and that wasn’t really a part of the franchise which was based around death/failure through hubris or ignorance, but not stupidity.

Idk why people knock this movie. Of the Alien films it covers way more information & touches those archetypal questions way more than the others. For me this is the only one that didn't just dissolve into a 'monster in the dark' movie. I had hoped Scott would really get deeper into these ideas with 'Raised by Wolves'.

I wouldn't consider A³ a dud. It's a pretty cool movie in retrospect. It does its own thing, has its own style and tone, isn't plagued by countless call backs and recycled one liners. Pretty ballsy compared to contemporary franchise filmmaking

This and Covenant made the lore in the Alien franchise far more compelling and interesting. Though it did muddy the waters regarding the Xenomorph’s existence it also added so much cool intrigue to it. Romulus was a great return to form and I hope we can have both kinds of Alien movies, we probably won’t but a boy can dream.

I anticipated this like few other movies in my time. Watched the trailer- which like the original feel is one of the best- on almost daily basis leading up to it. I certainly liked it, but was expecting to love it like I did Alien & Aliens it's hasn't gotten to that level over time. But certainly contributes to my overall love of the franchise.

There is a lot of Gnosticism in Prometheus. You can see the main idea in the movie as a gnostic tale. Ridley Scott is a big fan. He even directed an ad where a model reads "Thunder, Perfect Mind."

26:10 In Alien it’s fairly obvious that putting the crew in danger, even though it is ordered, puts Ash in a state of conflict that could best be described as pain. It’s reasonable to assume that this is also true for David, but being that he decides to not just follow the order but exceed them, he has learned not to mind the pain.

When me and my mate came out of the cinema, we both reflected on how though it was definitely a Ridley Scott film, it was not the alien film we were promised. In retrospect i still enjoy this film. Which is more than can be said for Covenant.

19:55 The truth of that scene is it doesn't matter where or even When it takes place, as long as we see an Engineer and the Black Goo doing what they do. It's just a set up and introduction for the rest of the ideas that are going to be presented later in the movie.

I always loved this movie and Covenant (which I really hope you cover too). It makes me sad that there isn't a planned sequel (atleast that I have heard of) to Covenant because if David made the xenos we know and he is on a ship with people to experiment on, that could easily tie into the first movie. It would be cool if engineers found out what he did, chased him, and there would be xenos and a queen running around on the ship and then end up on the engineers ship that crashes on LV-426.
