I was not very familiar with the story of Deft and I was always underrating him. As a biased EU fan, I even considered DRX weaker than Fnatic, Rogue and G2 at last year's Worlds. But after that reverse sweep against EDG, everything changed. After he broke into tears after Sjokz told him it's more than 2000 days since he made the semi-finals of Worlds.... it showed how much it meant to him. And to be able to go all the way and beat Faker and T1 in the final (perhaps the greatest final of all time).... This is a timeless story of how you should never give up, no matter what! I am now a huge fan of this legend. Thank you, Deft for this incredible journey and good luck in your next adventures! And thank you Riot for making this story feel more special!

realistically, if you take absolute cieling, drx probably only had the 9th highest (behind fnatic and 7 asian teams). pretty much everything that couldve aligned for them aligned, pretty much everything that couldve gone wrong for everyone else had. im not trying to diminish their incredible achievement, but putting them below eu teams was very much justified.

I don’t really know League (I play some Wild Rift) but even as a casual viewer, DRX’s run was magical. The mental fortitude and team play they showed throughout the entire tournament were reminiscent of that other Cinderella run in esports: OG. Whatever happens this year or in the subsequent years: Deft beat Faker and T1 to win the Summoner’s Cup. The process and result are both there. Everything else is a bonus.

DRX was not lucky. They beat RNG (2022 MSI champions) in play ins, then Top Esports in groups. In the knockout stage they had to defeat EDG after losing a game due to the inhibitor respawning, then GenG, only to face T1 in the final winning despite Gumayusi stealing TWO barons. They faced and defeated the best teams in the world in extremely adverse situations.@@semnejlepsi8983

I’m also a NewJeans fan! I learned about Deft earlier this year when he did that two part episode with Sakura from LESSERAFIM. My boyfriend plays League of Legends and he informed me about Deft after I asked him. I have the utmost respect for Deft.

@@szwniki I'm late but Deft is one of the most iconic and legendary players in the scene. He never won anything major until 2022 but he was always the highlight of his team. He has a crazy rivalry with the best player of all time Faker, and had a bromance like relationship with his ex teammate Keria, now in a team with Faker.(you can see all of this in the NewJeans GODs music video). His story is like a whole movie that made me cry when I watched it live.

What makes Deft’s story so inspiring is how we were able to see him throughout the years, his growth and all the pain from the uncertainty. He is quite soft spoken and thinks things through before saying them, a true mature player and veteran. No matter what happens in the future, he is a living legend

and the only seed 4 could touch the cup. that is rather a miracle of god give to him to be honest. No one could even imagine that Drx coud beat GenG, then JDG and beat up T1 on the BO5, which is their stength.

You could see he was overcome with emotion watching the video. Kinda weird to be sitting in a crowd experiencing it haha and immediately asked their opinion. I wouldn't be able to process all of it. His words were so humble and wise, and it's good to know he's so proud of himself. I wasn't a huge Deft fan, but I am now!

Deft may not have realized it at the time but he was the perfect example of being the main character of this story of worlds 2022. He knows what hes capable of and believes he can achieve being the best, but hes not arrogant. Hes calm, collected, and has faith in himself and his abilities as a player but also in his team and coaching staff. Giving up his spotlight game 5 against T1 he sacrificed himself and his lane by letting Beryl play Bard to benefit the team more than his lane to get them the win. And now even in this video he stated I made mistakes but he still holds strong in his belief that he played his best as did his team. People still dont think DRX was a good team to begin with and EDG, T1, and GENG all played not to their potential and thats why DRX won and I dont believe that to be the case. On paper the players of DRX were not the best analytically and statistically, but they all know their potential and they played up to it when it mattered most, and that is what truly makes this run exquisite and very much so one of the best worlds performances there will likely ever be.

Ngl I wasn’t a fan of gamers until I heard about deft now I’m invested and to see how a lot of other gamers respect him and it’s all love is amazing I hope he has more years in this and his team is just as amazing yes they aren’t the main character but you always need pillars and if they weren’t a team I don’t think things would’ve worked out how they are now so the whole team is great and deft deserves all the love.

One thing i always liked about this player, is that he always stayed composed, but not without emotions/feelings, he never gave up, had to adapt to a lot of metas and structures/teams, met a lot of different playstyles mates, and was always a real deal at the bot lane, even if never got the rewards he worked so hard for ! And when you hear him, you can feel the kind person he is behind his calm, soft and sweet voice ! Deft is really a nice guy, you can tell it just by listening to his words in all his interviews in the past. He doesn't act like he is "someone" while still giving his best, and hoping for just a bit of rewards/recognition for all the hard work. Hopefully after more than 10 years it finally paid off, i'm so happy for this person ! ^^

as an old KT fan, i remember when kt was eliminated in 2018 worlds after losing to IG in the quarterfinals. that game was very close and he did his best, but disappointed fans blamed him. after that, Deft was considered an "old" or "past his prime time" player at the time as well. no more top teams in the league reached hand out to him and eventually he ended up playing in drx with players of being rated tier B or C and also young players with no experience. until the worlds began, nobody believed them and did not expect them. "coming to the worlds!! you guys well done. but that's all for you guys" honestly most of us thought like this. but they proved it as you already know. i express lots of respect to Deft and wish him well in this worlds.😊
