Yeah, Diamond Eyes and KNY definitely felt like more emotionally “mature” albums compared to others to me, but it’s hard to exactly describe why that is lol. This is definitely one of those standouts!

This song took on a different meaning for me last year. I was visiting my grandmother and on the way back from her house, 976 came on my Deftones playlist. I though about how Chino seemed to be writing about Chi: lying there, "staring away". Not long after, my grandmother suffered a stroke that put her in a braindead state. I went and saw her before she passed. She was there in the bed with no life in her eyes, "staring away". Sometime after that, 976 played again and I just lost it. Thank you guys so much for your music. I know I speak for more than myself when I say it's helped me through some difficult times.

This Place Is Death is the last one for this album... I recommend anyone who hasn't seen it, look up their performance of that song at Trees Dallas. Stef uses some crazy shimmer reverb effects on it to get sounds that I always thought were from Frank's synths.

La guitarra del Carpenter es magistral. Escuchar a este pana es soberbio es tranquilizante. Si guitarra es como ácida es punzante. Sin el Carpenter en deftones esta banda se acabaría. Una de mis bandas favoritas y aún cuando siguen rompiéndola no consigo llenar el vacío musical que dejó chi Cheng. Su bajo llenaba era obscuro abstracto y llenaba todo lo que la escencia deftones es.
