Man Steph might not be a super technical player but the feel and timing is absolutely professional level. There is so much more to being a good guitar player than being able to do the jerk off theatrics. I write more complicated parts in my own music but I don't even come close to the feel and vibe of Steph's rythum playing. Every time I try to play a Deftones song to a click so I can record it and play along with drums I realize just how much more difficult these parts are then they sound. Just like with guys like Kurt Cobain where the parts seem simple but they are played really well and serve the song incredibly well.

Around the fur is one of the best metal albums ever. No need for super low tunings and it sounds so heavy. The bass filling out the lows instead of the guitar trying to be a bass. Back from a time where every band had a unique sound. You don't need to play really technical riffs to be heavy. Around the fur and white pony are legendary albums.
