This song reminds me of a girl i loved so much, but drugs consumed our lives and she overdosed at our home and i found her. I was destroyed and spiraled out of control and O.D. myself but they saved me and i have to live with it. It still haunts me. She was gonna be my wive and have our baby. This song helped me. get past it all. but im still haunted by it all.

I truly appreciate when people make videos to Deftones music. I've been a fan of Deftones for over half of my life, since '98 I think. Not only being my favorite band musically, I always appreciated the dedication of real Deftones fans. It was always either, someone like me with Deftones tattooed all over his arm who loved them, somebody who has heard of them but didn't have an overall opinion, or someone who has never heard of the Deftones. I have never met anyone with a hatred for the Deftones

How is this song so hard to get when it's so obvious? She loves him. In turn, he falls in love with her.. She breaks his heart. "Sink your teeth, then bat your eyes".. It's all about her, no matter what he gives. "What's the surprise (he) was going off"??

It’s about a toxic relationship, the chorus gives it away when he says “now I know you love me, thank god you love at all”. That feeling of being unsure the person you’re with really loves you when it can come off as fake or being deceptive hence the “thank god you love at all”. That surprise line is more about her ditching him and then being interested again - it’s a surprise what mood she’ll be in towards him and the whole time he’ll be there waiting for her. The big giveaway line is second verse about her avoidance to him, sleeping for hours to keep away. That follow up line just reinforces when she shows interest in him again, batting the eyes.

I think people have incredibly restrictive and 'literal' imaginations. If you think that footage like this doesn't fit with a song like Dai The Flu, because the music is 'heavy' or 'metal' or involves screaming or even twisted or bitter lyrics, and contrasts the video - then you're putting a massive limitation on what 'heavy' is about. 'Heavy' doesn't necessarily mean anger or darkness, it can mean absolute joy just the same. 'Heavy' is simply about intensity - the feeling could be ANYTHING. For me the video fits. Even if it is a contrast, it's a balancing act that compliments. If it were up to some of you, the video would just be sex and syringes and nothing else would be imagined. Then we would miss out on 'Dai The Flu - Old people play Bowls video edition'.

Sure he sings “now I know that you love me” but then he contrast that with the darker line “thank god you love at all”. That’s some personal shit right there. He’s in a toxic relationship with a girl that can hate and love him at the same time leaving him confused. That second verse is so cold about avoidance and being distanced. Even the lines about going on and off, I can relate. To slap a jolly happy video on something so personal of a song of a toxic relationship seems so beyond not understanding the song it’s down right insulting.
