Stephen is criminally underrated. He's a real riffer, I love his simple but elegant approach. Its crazy how long they have been around too, some straight up OGs
@puneethvenkatrao9875 жыл бұрын
Elegant? No offense love them, but can you explain?
@bernoulli8845 жыл бұрын
@@puneethvenkatrao987 There's very few complicated chords or even # of chords in his riffs. Like if you take the Be Quiet and Drive main riff, it's just a bounce from an octave chord with an open bass string over to a power chord, back and forth. But Capenter does these variations like the bend in the chorus on the octave chord that just make the riff *his* style. So you can call his riffs pretty simple, but he's got a hell of a lot of rhythm and creativity that add up to make it his unique style. Not too technically complex, but it doesn't have to be to sound great.

As other users pointed out the album is in standard, and playing bored in drop d instead of where Carpenter plays the riff actually robs it of some tightness and dynamics that you just don’t get when playing it this way.
