His work and efforts warrant a higher degree of recognition and praise and more notoriety. Now that we have grown up...and talked big boy talk, maybe it's ok to share some opinions. If you're unfamiliar with the lore behind Back to School, it basically boils down to Deftones being told by their label to write and record a "Limp Bizkit song" in a day because the initial release of White Pony didn't sell well. White Pony was then re-released with Back to School shoehorned in as the opening track, in the hopes that it would boost sales.

Of all the bands I grew up with, few have had the staying power of Deftones. I wouldn’t say they were my favorite band in high school, despite how much I loved White Pony, but every album got better, and every year I listened to them more and more. Now? Easily the band I’ve listened to the most frequently for the past decade.

Eleven years ago, on August 9, my partner and I found ourselves at a Deftones concert, completely entranced by Chino Moreno's electrifying presence. Surrounded by the raw energy of the crowd, we made a commitment that resonated deep within us. That night marked the beginning of a melodic journey, where music intertwined with our love, connecting us at the very core of our beings. Since then, we've thrived in that vibrant energy, allowing our passion to grow and strengthen our unbreakable bond.
