Dude, I was blasting this whole album as well as White Pony in my truck while off roading through the desert last weekend. Needles and Pins, Battle Axe, and Moana hit different out there though. Clear skies, drinking Phantom Bride IPA, and driving on empty dirt roads in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night. Pure bliss.

For everyone asking, Yes Stephen uses a LTD Bass 5 string in this (also in Xerces from Saturday Night Wrist) I don't know the tunning saddly. Everybody's question is, How he gets his bass sound like a guitar??? He just connects his bass in his guitar amp and that all just a LOT of distortion. Cheers everyone!!! Its why tones is one of tha few alt/metal bands dat appeals to nonwhites as much as if not moreso than whites- few other metal bands emphasize rhythm as heavily. With its focus on percussive force n flow n minimalist harmonies, structurally, they best work is far more similar in nature & character to 90s boom bap hip hop than tha mallcore nu metal of tha early/mid 00s; its no surprise they eventually began integrating trip hop into they style. Een at they most aggressive & noisy, they music retains a solid underlying sensuality n sexiness which is deadass utterly alien to mos alt metal

They are the two greatest bands in my world. They have a way making music that takes you on a ride and creates an experience unique to the listener. I can hear a song and it instantly takes me back to a specific time, place or even an image. It is so great to hear that teenagers like yourself have found the Deftones.
