@@MysticGuitar77 I have an 8 string Schester Omen series with fanfrets. I love it. The added tension on the bass strings is awesome. Strangely, it doesn't feel all that strange playing it. It's mostly comfortable and normal feeling.

That's what everybody told me but it really wasn't a big adjustment for me after playing 7's for near 20 years now. Going from a 6 to a 7 was a bigger leap than 7 to 8 was.

Sara, that "thing" on the headstock is a string mute. It stops the strings behind the from making unwanted vibrations. It has other uses, but that's the primary use. Stopping unwanted sympathetic vibrational tones. Cheers. 🍻

I don’t own an 8 string, but on a 7 string what I do for this song is tune down both the low B string down to F# and the low E string down to B. Not saying I only use 2 strings but you know😂
