"Having Maynard perform on the record wasn’t something that we planned on doing. We didn’t plan on having any guest on the record. But being a fan of Tool and A Perfect Circle, once Maynard was involved, it was just a magical thing for us. Honestly, when he first started working with us, he wasn’t supposed to sing with us. He was just working on the arrangements, riff structures, time signatures, and things like that. I don’t know if you’re a big fan of Tool’s music, but they’re really mathematical. I’ve been to their rehearsal space, and there’s this big chart that just looks like calculus-the way they write songs, it’s just crazy. It was good to have someone else who has different ways of writing songs, ‘cause everyone has a different way of doing it. He came in and we started working on this one song in particular, and he just grabbed the microphone and started singing along to it, and my jaw just dropped. All of a sudden our band sounded like Tool; it was just crazy. Then, probably two months later, we went in to record the album, and I went in to record the vocals on it, and I just kept hearing his voice, this recurring melody with his voice coming over it. So I called him and asked him if he wanted to come down and sing on the record, and he had no problem with it. Once he came in, I gave him sort of what I wanted the song to be about, and he wrote a couple of ideas down, and the next day he came in with all the lyrics written all out with blank spaces where my lyrics were supposed to be. He’s very professional like that. He wants everything set perfectly, which is the complete opposite to the way that I write, so it was cool. And then I went in and did my vocals over it, and it just seemed that our voices blended together pretty good." - Chino Moreno, DeftonesWorld

@@calebashford1686 Oh yeah, about 3 months ago I finished their discography bro. My opinion on each album: Adrenaline (Was alright but they definitely made better albums after). ATF (Definitely a great album but not their best). White Pony (The magnum opus according to other fans but I don't agree. It's really good though). Self titled (Chaotic but still had good tracks. Not in my top three though). SNW (If Pink Cellphone and a few other tracks were removed it'd be one of their greatest to me). Diamond Eyes (Insanely good. Took me a few listens to enjoy it this much but it's truly amazing). KNY (The tracks are a bit too long for their own good but it's one of my favorite albums). Gore (Phantom Bride was outstanding but I didn't like this album very much). Ohms (Excuse my language but this is fucking amazing. I'd leave out Genesis because it felt too convoluted but the rest is perfect. I'd say that if White Pony is their magnum opus then Ohms is them perfecting their entire sound a second time). I do want to see where their next album takes things. A part of me hopes they release Eros or at least some tracks from it.

Deftones seriously takes me on a mental journey without the drugs, that's how much I love them lmao
@chickenmonger1239 ай бұрын
Music is better than a drug. More original. It doesn’t hijack your evolved reward system. It’s part of it already. It’s real. It’s a living thought. Unlike those other things. Those other things might tell you about yourself. But they rarely tell you anything true, that you couldn’t have found out. Or true in the concrete physical sense. Unlike music. It occurs to me that the mating of metaphysical to physical is self evidently meaningful. Is what life is at all. A thought with no recourse is nothing. Reality without thought manifest is void.

Here I lay, still and breathless Just like always, still, I want some more Mirrors sideways, who cares what's behind? Just like always, still your passenger Chrome buttons, buckles, and leather surfaces These and other lucky witnesses Now to calm me, this time, won't you, please Drive faster? [Chorus 1: Maynard James Keenan] Roll the windows down This cool night air is curious Let the whole world look in Who cares who sees anything? I'm your passenger I'm your passenger [Verse 2: Chino Moreno and Maynard James Keenan] Drop these down, then put them on me Nice, cool seats there to cushion your knees Now to calm me, take me around again Don't pull over, this time, would you, please Drive faster? [Chorus 2: Maynard James Keenan] Roll the windows down This cool night air is curious Let the whole world look in Who cares who sees what tonight? Roll these misty windows down To catch my breath again And then go and go and go, just drive me Home then back again [Outro: Chino Moreno and Maynard James Keenan] Here I lay just like always Don't let me go Take me to the edge

I used to get so high and hop on the freeway in the early morning hours when nobody wanted to party ( because it was probably a Wednesday morning lol) and drive for hours until the sun would come up from LA to IE to San Diego and back home. this song was like a spiritual high like no other. Every time I hear it I still get goosebumps.
