I am a Boomer and l, along with most of my Boomer aged friends, think highly of Jordan Shanks. He speaks to truth as he sees it and provides well thought out insights. He bridges the tradition of the larrikin with a high degree of intelligence, offering a great foil against the mediocrity presented by MSM. To put it simply, he is terrific! 😊

For the record, older (62) female here - I totally ‘get’ Jordy - big fan, and I’m not alone in my “subset”, whatever that is. He’s articulate, bright and gutsy, which is unusual. I also like that he’s a cagey bastard. He really is uncomfortable talking about himself. He practically squirmed and wriggled expertly away from questions he didn’t want to answer. It would be both fascinating and frustrating to be his therapist 😂

Great interview Mark. Jordan Shanks is an exceptional thinker, interesting and never dull to listen to. The Parliamentary system doesn't have people like Jordan, that's why our country is in a mess today. Mark I am 70 years of age, my daughter is 28 and is intelligent and sharp, runs rings around me when it comes to information, her friends are similar. Mentioning Paul Keating as an intellect which I agree with. Amazing drive, determination, ambition and self motivation. In the Old Parliament House, Keating was seen walking by himself, he had this steel and self belief. I never blamed Keating for the high interest rates, he had no choice because Australia was locked into the greenback economy. Keating wanted to raise the consumption tax which would have staved off the high interest rates. A true visionary I agree with Jordan saying Keating had the media on his side. Remember Keating was a band manager, he understands how to win over the media and to win an election.

A strong foundation is crucial for any country. Albo's approach is commendable as it prioritizes building a solid base. Jordy's suggestion to address the broken aspects before adding anything new is logical. It is impractical to construct anything on an unstable ground.
@khylerin70
@khylerin70 10 ай бұрын
Albo has blown it. I'm as disappointed as anyone could be, having voted for him, waiting so long for Labor to get another go with the voting punters. The voice to parliament is as unnecessary as it is divisive. Labor has an unfortunate history of unstitching their successes with breathtaking failures. Hawke gained justified admiration and a deserved place in posterity for the introduction of Medicare. A few years later, he sold the nation into bondage by floating the dollar. They pumped up the economy in the 80s, all but idolised high profile, wealthy so- called entrepreneurs who's entire balance sheet was increasing (and ultimately consuming) debt. Debt and profligate spending that exposed us to avoidable inflation increases and hideous recession and interest rates in the early 90s. Swings and roundabouts, it's a constant dancing on a wire for the average folk like us. We're the bunnies, well not me by nature or inclination but rendered as so by the clear majority of my fellow Australians and their apathy. Whether by laziness, or disinterest, lack of confidence or by the inability to organise and rally. Australians have enabled these situations, enabled these harmful economic environments, with their accompanying frauds and negative societal effects. We're where we are with what we have and haven't because largely, average people can't be bothered being bothered enough to even start to try doing anything about it, by preventing government and business becoming omnipotent. Think about it... Don't bother deriding me for the comment, or countering what I've said. Just think about it, then think again and again. It'll come to you, the way it came to me, I'm fairly confident in that folks. Cheers and good health, good luck and good seasons to all. But definitely think about that next time you attend an Anzac day service, if you're wanting to look the part as a grateful and acknowledging Aussie, I was exactly the same. I'm certain neither any of you, (and I admit not unlike myself) would so willingly and unselfishly volunteer to roll the dice with our own, one and only life in the belief that we are ensuring the nation and its citizens are being defended from exploitation, tyranny or becoming indentured into disguised slavery. It's what's happened, is continuing to worsen and who wants to live like that?. Cheers folks, safe and happy day's to all 😉👍👍

No offence to Mark, but I'd never heard of him prior to this video showing up in my feed. Having said all that, excellent interview!! And based on this interview, I'll check out more of Mark's work. Damn interesting interview, hell I learned a tonne about Jordan despite following his channel for years. If I have any criticism (more like a query), it's Mark's initial mention that he likes charismatic/unique politicians, which later he reworded to smart, then again later to having done a super significant feat for the country. While I can get him not liking Albo on the personality front, Albo was 1) the infrastructure minister for a decade and didn't go over budget despite that literally being the norm and expected for such large projects, 2) perfectly handled his image to the media for well over a year straight as they endlessly tried to trip him up, and especially 3) instead of just dumping money on social housing and calling it a day, chose instead to make it profitable for companies to invest in, basically wrangling capitalism itself to significantly move poverty away from the brink. Albo is a legend on many fronts. Rudd had the GFC and taking on mining giants and now Murdoch, Shorten was a hero of the unions. We absolutely have the caliber of leaders Mark wishes we had. Paul Keating tells ABC "journalists" they should resign if they believe whatever they're told by their bosses, Shorten calls Scomo a simp for Trump on national TV. Even the balls remain with our modern mob.

Love Jordies. I’m a mid range GenX, disappointed in the apathy and ennui of my generation. We protested nukes & war over oil, among other things, then phhhhhhht. I love Millenials - I have one of my own - and am delighted by their humour and creativity, and love of life despite their disillusionment. I also love Gen Y and now all my hopes lie with them to save the rest of us from the mess the Boomers created and that GenX have done bugger all about. I came across Jordies at some point during the Super Mario Bruz saga, 100% ignorant of NSW state politics, and was blown away that blatant corruption was STILL going on, and that this kid on KZbin was the only one talking about it. Back in my day, blah blah blah, news was still somewhat respectable. I remember when 60 minutes was respected investigative journalism! It’s true! It was about 40 years ago! Mainstream media is trash, politicians are trash, corporations are trash, trash everywhere, conspiracy kooks abound, and so few have the guts or resources to speak out. Eg Jordan here, and Tyler Schultz who spoke up to expose Theranos. Had previously thought Bouris was a tosser, due to The Apprentice Australia (I guess someone was going to take the job, might as well have been Bouris prostituting himself as much as anyone else) & some other crap where he made my local pizza shop change its name because some minion (Bouris must have been too busy) decided that Australians are illiterate uncultured buffoons or something who can’t pronounce “alphabet names” like “Pizzaiolo Micheluccio”. Alphabet names! Seriously, Bouris sidekick who said that - it’s not 1970 anymore, and we’ve learnt how to pronounce a multitude of multicultural restaurant names and their menu items! We learnt to say cappuccino, we can say Pizzaiolo Micheluccio. Anyway, I totally get Jordan’s attitude, he’s on par with old school whistleblowers & intrepid journalists who went into war zones or exposed high level corruption. I fear for his safety, ala Salman Rushdie & the fatwa, Charlie Hebdo staff, Daniel Morgan, Jamal Khashoggi, et al. Thanks for this interview, I really appreciated the respect & rapport. Great to have good stuff to pass the time with while I wait impatiently for the youth to finally start the revolution. And Pizzaiolo Micheluccio 4 lyfe!

This may seem conspiratorial but the real reason why we all had to take the covíd vaccines was to neurally connect us all to the American military industrial complex. They can literally read your mind and if they don't like you and you become a target, they'll use voice to skull technology (v2k) and make it seem you went crazy 🤪 They will use it on a massive scale to do one of two things. Alien contact Jesus Christ. Both are just americans pulling psyops. Want to know why? Because climate change will destroy our way of life and they want you docile and complacent while you slowly starve to death because it's going to be so hot we won't be able to grow anything. Just look what billionaires are doing... Building underground bunkers on islands. 17 in new Zealand alone. Look what mark Zuckerberg did in Hawaii. We are a resource rich country and it should be do able at 65. Unless you have super you can't retire earlier and and if you did there would be nothing left by the time you qualify for the age pension. I know people who have mortgaged their house just to access it as an income stream until they reach the age pension age. Trouble is they won't have a roof over their head by the time they get there. Hello Mr. Bouris. Thank you for the hard work in producing your videos. This video on Mr. Shanks is very enjoyable. I wanted to pass something on via a private message but I couldn't find a means to do so. So, after you have read this, please feel free to delete the message if you prefer. I am one of those annoying people who point out when words are mispronounced. I don't want to do this for any other reason than the fact that I believe communication is important and the that it is so easy to obfuscate meaning in the rapid way that people now communicate. The word 'timbre', although it makes all the sense in the world to pronounce in English as 'timber', is actually pronounced tam'bər. It is a great word for people to know, as it is a lovely quality of the voice for people to have an appreciation of. I hope this is not rude in any way. Thank you very much, once again.

Interesting to hear your take on the Hawke/Keating contribution to the Australian economy. Born in 1970, I witnessed it first hand. Tax policy which gave 150% rebate on capital expenditure, created 'cashed up bogans' from previously cash strapped farmers who went on to spread their largesse like drunken sailors, toward a 'Banana Republic'. Then we had the recession we had to have. The '80's were an exiting time to be a teenager with role models like Alan Bond and Christopher Skase, 1990 found me in Port Douglas building resorts and golf courses, on pretend money....

Hi Boris had no idea you had you own podcast. Not surprised with the algorithms. Have to know what to search for these days. Thankyou for this interview. Im 60yrs sorta cusp of Boomers and been following Jordes and his team for a few years. His ability to communicate a message is a skill and we need more people like him who can reach people and to keep politicians honest lol. I agree you have to listen to young ones. He is a critical thinker and it doesn't matter who he votes for, his opinions are just as important to be told (always complemented by his sense humour). I agree Politians today are not showing their strengths as the previous PMs. I really notice watching John Howard, John Anderson etc and others on their youtube channels the difference in how they come across presenting themselves and the carefulness they take to approaching the public. Very respectful of all Australians. Nothing compares atm. I really enjoyed learning how Jordes got to be where he is. Well done.

About the greenies, I live in Tas, and there he was driving down the highway with no to this, no to that, stop this, stop that stickers all over his car. The problem with that was that he was driving a noisy, rusted clapped out kombi van with smoke and fumes pouring out the exhaust pipe. Fecking hypocrisy at one of it's best!! 🤦🏼‍♀️😠. Absolutely fascinating conversation 👌👌. I was wondering what you thought about Bob Hawke when you were talking about Paul Keating and then you mentioned him 😊👍. Don't forget Paul's mastery at parliamentary insults as well 😅😅

That was a really fantastic discussion and ha ha was with you on your view of Paul and was sitting with Anniti at lunch in Amsterdam when her girlfriend asked what I thought of Paul. OMG all I could do was direct the conversation to antiques on not on bananas. My children cannot believe we had interests rates at 17% but it’s basically the same as what they are facing now in reality. Subscribe to both your channels and look forward to more intelligent conversations. ☺️

I'd have a statue of Keating on my front lawn. In 2011 at the SOH for SWF in an interview with Kerry O'Brien, he explained that his reforms created people with new wealth and that the ALP failed to claim them. Roughly at the 26min mark. What he actually said was that many members of the ALP "don't like the society we created". I thought of that when you reflected on his reforms making Mark's wealth possible. I always think this is partially why the ALP were in the wilderness for so many years and the country has paid the price for it. I'd love to meet Keating. I hope I get a chance.

The reason Labor are continually in the wilderness is because the media has been corporatized and they work for an elite few who now control the country via the media. Of course it doesn't help that the bulk of the population doesn't question anything until it's too late. We've literally had a cabal running the country doing whatever they want with impunity. Now they can do nothing because of the mess that was handed to them.
