I definitely think of the word "propriety" as I look at these people, but I also feel a sense of informality from the girl in the center and the positioning of his uncle. We're important, but we're still family / regular people. The two more formal family members are together on the left and the less so on the rest of the canvas. I do wonder how intentional that was - maybe it was an accurate reflection of how they interact in life. The more formal and proper daughter with her mom, etc. They look great, though.
