Oops! I have the XHDATA and have just ordered the 1103, I ordered the Kaito one because I could get it the PLL version without DSP... I love my XHDATA so much!!! But I had ordered the 1103 in hopes it could be simpler to tune in SSB mode... I enjoy listening to the hams, and all the reviews had said it was excellent and simple to do, whereas I keep getting conversations I can’t get tuned to hear on my XHDATA... this is the first I’d heard that it’s more difficult than the XHDATA! I may have just wasted some money! But I’ll have two great radios anyway!!! Lol

Hi there! I have it for a day, but there is something that I do not understand, How do I delete the saved frequencies? I tried with the reset button but it did not work.

Thanks for the warrantee information, I purchased a D-808 this week on Amazon. Hopefully no glitches. Still have a tecsun 310et to compare it with.

I have the DSP version of the 1103 (Kaito branded). Its performance impresses me aside from the mute on tuning. It is very sensitive and selective on all bands. I have to imagine that the PLL version sells for a good sum of money. I cannot recall seeing any for sale. For me, the decision at the time was between the Kaito KA1103 and the Tecsun PL-660. If I was in the market now, I would probably go with the Xhdata due to the multiple bandwidth options and slightly better MW performance.

Thanks Giles for these very interesting comparisons. I would only add, if I may and I am not wrong, that DEGEN radio seems to have the bands limited, and XHDATA can tune whatever Freq in the middle of them, isn't it? This is exactly what I miss in my analog Philips AE 3350.

It's easy to think that but the DE1103 has full frequency range. It just has a weird design that locks you into the broadcast bands, unless you tune out of the bands by manually inputting the frequency just above or below the set range.

I once had a JVC portable Walkman type radio with cassette and the AM/FM had an analogue vernier (ruler type) tuning and it had an LCD bar that went through the scale the same way. Interesting!
