I wanted to talk a little bit about Spider-Man 2's black suit. The Symbiote Spider-Man arc has always been one of my absolute favorites for the character, so I was really excited to see it show up in this game. While Marvel's Spider-Man 2 isn't perfect, it does a lot of fun things right and I really enjoy this aspect of the game. #spiderman2 #marvelspiderman #gaming

I honestly really like how Insomniac handled the symbiote. We were all looking forward to getting the symbiote and using its raw power to our advantage. And that was delivered. But when we get to see how much it’s negatively affecting Peter and how badly he and his relationships are suffering for it, at some point we want it to be removed from him and it’s a relief we he finally does remove it, even though we will miss it. The black suit arc is my favorite Spidey story, and I think this game did it justice.

Man you’re so right about the black suit’s gameplay being addictive just like the black suit is to Peter, it’s just so much damn fun to use. I think if Insomniac adds a few quality of life updates surrounding the black suit, like the option for black tendrils and bully Lowenthal dialogue in the post game free roam, then they’ll have really done it justice gameplay wise.

It's great there are 3 black symbote suits available in the game. This game's suit. Spider-Man 3's Suit. The classic comic book suit. I thought once the symbote is removed from Peter, the black suit was no longer wearable. I was glad after finishing the game, seeing the Black suit was available. When wearing the classic comic book black suit, the webbing turns black.

I absolutely love the portrayal of the suit in this game. It is everything I ever dreamed of as a huge fan of the Symbiote story and just the general badassness and design of the suit. You feel unstoppable while wearing the suit especially when using the symbiote surge ability. The suit manipulates Peters grief and sadness turning it into rage and addiction to the suits power. I honestly got chills when Peter confronts Kraven in the church.

I really love it too. I just wish it was a little longer. I don't really have an official rewrite or anything, but if I were to have input on the game, I would have wanted a lot of the same events in the game, but extended a little bit and changing Peter a little slower over time to the point where maybe he got rid of the suit at the end of the game and then Venom was the focus of the third. Third. I just feel like Venom didn't really get much time and I actually really do love in the comics how the symbiote arc takes place over a long period of time, which is really hard to do in a video game. But in terms of the actual story we got and the gameplay I really love that black suit. It's just awesome.

I almost feel like Spiderman 2 is like Arkham City. What is there is great, but it feels like there could be so much more. I realize there are some instances were "less is more", but I was definitely in wanting "more" from this game. I'm really hoping there's DLC and additional side stuff later down the line.

The way that Insomniac had done the black suit Spider-Man Justice and even Venom shows how much love they gave the web warrior. I mean even when I saw the potential of the black suit during the Spider-Man animated series back in the 90s showed how much I love this suit, even the anti-venom suit that you get in this game is pure perfection.

Nah, not perfection. Anti-Venom Surge Mode doesn’t change at all.. at least some glowing scarlet eyes something. And once you get it, the Black Suit is never the same again. But other than that it’s clean.

Spoiler ahead I love the white suit (still not calling it by its name so i wont spoil anyone. Although fans would probably know anyway). It looks really cool, with just enough black to not look weird and in all the right places. It also keeps the style of the symbiote, which makes the symbiote attacks look far more natural to use than normal suits would. Its even immersive on top of that, if you happen to care about that

Amazing video, insomniac games really nailed the black suit and they knew the source material for it, Also, I love the black suit designs in this game as well, The way the regular black suit evolves as Peter finds Dr. Connors and Dr. Connors tells him the truth gives me the chills as he says he needs this suit It makes him a better Spider-Man. Something tells me I know someone from insomniac game saw that spectacular Spider-Man episode where Spider-Man defeats the sinister 6 while he's asleep and it's so damn good, the way insomniac pretty much recreated it in their own style was absolutely terrifying and horrifying, The way the black suit interrogates the foes is absolutely scary and heartbreaking at the same time, If this version of the black suit Spider-Man we're to scream at my face If I was to go against him I would be crying in pain. Insomniac games really nailed this masterpiece! 👍🏻

I agree. I wanted it to be the whole game and focus on Venom in 3 but I love the portions where you play in the suit. This game reminds me a lot Amazing Spider-Man 2 - lots of ideas and some work and are really fun but others didn't get enough time to shine.

Personally, I would love more if they made Black (Symbiote) Suit more akin to Dark Jak in Jak II, and Anti Venom was saved for the next game (Marvel's Spider-Man 3), like a Light Jak in Jak 3. But it was more likely to happen if Venom was somebody else, (Read more for spoilers) rather than Harry. but it's another topic of itself.

I want to mention some nitpicks I have regarding the design of the black suit in the game before it turns into the symbiote suit. Now I really like the suit, but the head looks a little tacky. It’s a bit too much like a helmet and the gross texture on the back of Peter’s neck is a little distracting. I think the head area should’ve looked more simplistic and then you would have a perfect modern black suit. Those are pretty much small grievances. The black suit is still very fun to use.

I feel like act 1 we shouldn't got the Symbiote then after losing it that's when Pete decides it's time to craft the Iron Arms. That would've been better. I understand the handicap argument but it's to help him keep pace with Miles and Venom. Those that have finished the game know what we use to fight Venom but Idk. It was built up and teased so much that in the 30 hr game, we spend maybe 8 of that on Symbiote/Venom. It was just jarring because suddenly Pete magically decided between games to make the arms. If we're getting a mechanic or a new suit, use the plot of the game or story to help that point out. Miles' final suit comes out of nowhere with no hint of build up. At all. I hope he doesn't wear that suit in the next game and come NG+ we get to pick whatever suits we want.
