🇬🇧 To mark the return of the first dancefloors, beatmaker Degiheugi celebrates the party with his new music video “Favelas ft. Zackarose”, taken from his new album “Foreglow ”. Based on archive footages of the Rio carnival in 1955 to which loops and FX were added, this music video manages to recreate an atmosphere, a choreography and an energy which harmonizes wonderfully with this nugget that is "Favelas"! The progression from the arrival by plane above Rio to the incredible party - a sort of Brazilian version of the magic theater - via the parade, makes us feel the fever of the Rio carnival. A brand new music video that makes you want to party this summer !
🇫🇷 Pour marquer le retour des premiers dancefloors, le beatmaker Degiheugi célèbre la fête avec son nouveau clip « Favelas ft. Zackarose », extrait de son nouvel album « Foreglow ». En partant d’images d'archives du carnaval de Rio en 1955 auxquelles ont été ajoutés des loops et FX, ce clip parvient à recréer une ambiance, une chorégraphie et une énergie qui s’harmonise merveilleusement avec cette pépite qu’est « Favelas » ! Le montage progressif depuis l’arrivée en avion sur Rio jusqu’à l’incroyable fête - sorte de version brésilienne du théâtre magique - en passant par le défilé de chars, nous plonge littéralement dans le grand délire du carnaval de Rio. Un clip qui donne furieusement envie de faire la fête, de bonne augure en ce début d’été tant attendu !
🇬🇧 From 2001, Degiheugi (D.J.E.J) consumed LPs and made the decks roar in a rap band. But the sphere of classical hip-hop quickly becomes cramped to handle the influx of ideas endlessly irrigating its right hemisphere. Collector of sounds, explorer of the ideal sample, Degiheugi sets off to unearth still raw nuggets, slumbering in the abysses of the internet and under the dust of vinyls marking the past decades. He is reinventing the art of fusing these sound particles to give them a second life with atomic radiation.
Impregnated with 5-star featurings and beats with a goldsmith's groove, these dazzling patchworks expand the magnetic field of trip-hop codes, and reveal chemically pure music, full of soul reflections, electronic spleen and melodic flashes.
After 7 essential albums and 2 EPs, all celebrated by the growing ranks of his followers, this shadowy beatmaker took the stage in 2015. From Europe to Australia, from DJ Shadow's opening acts to joint stages with Chill Bump, Smokey Joe & the Kid or ProleteR, his performances combine sound and video for a powerful and immersive live experience.
On April 23, 2021, Degiheugi present his 8th album "Foreglow"with multiple influences, ranging from samba to Afrobeat through soul and French chanson.
After having reissued on vinyl the 8 albums composing his discography, French beatmaker Degiheugi presents his new project "Remixed Treasures" on April 21, 2023. It is the first remixed album in the producer’s career.
A project that bears its name well. Like seabed adventurers, the remixers have been asked to rework in their own way some of the most significant tracks of a career spanning more than 20 years. Starring L'Orange, Moderator, Souleance, iZem, The Architect, Senbei, Al Tarba, Mounika, DJ Vadim, La Fine Equipe, Kognitif, ProleteR and Scratch Bandits Crew, the XXL cast of this impressive crossover melts genres (hip-hop, electro, ambient, drum & bass, jazz...) and brings together no less than 13 beatmakers from different scenes and generations.

I'm from Germany and luckily, I also got to know this awesome and timeless track on the radio yesterday. Very catchy, and what a fascinating beat. It has been a French Canadian radio station (ICI Musique which is a part of Radio-Canada), you would barely hear such great music on a German radio station because nearly all of them are shite. :D
