I watched this three times in a row. The cinematography and styling is quirky and chic. I love Simz's updo it is gorgeous. This is a masterpiece visually and musically. Definitely a nod to Fela and Nigerian rich culture. So many rich colours loved the styling everything was intentional. The messaging had so many levels to it. The expectations of our parents, the corrupt with politicians and police. The symbolic nature of the cutlass and the unapologetic Black Love is beautiful if we move has a unit message. Black people and expression is not a monolith. I knew Obongjayar since 2018 when I stumbled upon Never Change on the Mellow Styles playlist and immediately I knew he was truly of Nigerian blood. Thanks a lot for taking this home with this beautiful piece. Little Simz was seriously hard on this.
