"Degoogle" Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact with LineageOS!

I have this wonderful Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact that I was able to upgrade from Android 10 to Android 13 thanks to LineageOS.

I would give the specific developer(s) a link by I unfortunately could not find that out from the LineageOS website.

it's fine. maps work no problem. set annimations using adb command to to .25. makes it feel pretty fast! not very much lag.

Hows the batter life so far? Im planning on getting one and doing the same thing as well. Im on a hunt on a new phone since my poco f1 died. Pretty much the same specs but my poco has a bigger battery.

Battery life has been fine for me. Never really have an issue with running out of battery as long as I charge during the night.

How do you backup the TA partition of this phone (and restore it after installing a custom ROM); most of the guides on the internet are pretty much out of date.

the battery was never the greatest. i could try replacing it but i can get thru a day of mederate use. sometimes i need to charge it in the middle of the day when i'm using it heavily.

I wouldn’t say it’s easier than Win or mac because the commands are the same since you’re using adb and fastboot to send remote commands to the phone. I’m just used to using Linux.

I did buy a Docomo variant XZ1 Compact a few years back but didn't use it. I'm now using it as my main phone but the LCD color and quality doesn't look as nice as my original X Compact. I'm guessing maybe a lot of these "cheap" phones nowadays are refurbished and not using genuine parts such as the LCD? On the XZ1 Compact I'm getting backlight bleed at the top while on my X Compact the brightness is even on all the panel.

It's entirely possible. Cheap LCD replacements in my experience don't work super well. I'm lucky that my LCD seems to be an original. Thanks for you comment.

It only works with the original sony camera app on stock firmware

I use a modded gcam app and it support it but i dont know how well. gcam mods often have weird bugs that may make some less common features a bit buggy

bank apps work fine for me but most won't let me use fingerprint login so i just use an autofill password manager.

Does VoLTE work in the US? All the carrier "compatibility checkers" don't like the beautiful coral pink model I'm looking at... then provide me a link to buy a brand new phone from the carrier.

Yes, VOLTE worked for me with TMobile no problem. Very clear call quality.

Thanks for the info. One more question I had was regarding Sony's DRM features. Does it break the camera or the color gamut settings when you unlock the bootloader and use a custom ROM?

Yeah always hate it when skipping important information on these video. Making it useless. Unlocking bootloader is just available by sony. All the other jibberish without any explanations makes it impossible to copy. And not even no what software you are using. Normally a rom download on your phone will do when getting into bootloader. Or missing out on something?

App support can be an issue, you usually have to do the Play attestation fix in Magisk for banking apps etc

I'm not sure what model number that variant is. I can tell you the LineageOS website lists the H8314 H8324 as the only compatible models.

While that's a really good idea, I don't think I'll be able to do that because I wiped away the stock os when I installed Lineage. Unfortunately, I don't have another Xperia to compare.
