Episode 15: Jagged Little Pill
"Perfect" Ashley is beginning to bore even herself. With their parents away for the weekend, Ashley decides to join Toby in breaking the "one-guest-each" rule and invites Paige and Hazel to join her and Terri. Sean comes to her when he confiscates Toby and J.T.'s Ecstasy, expecting her to do the responsible thing. Instead, Ashley takes it. When Jimmy arrives, he's furious with her. A strung-out Ashley becomes convinced that Sean is the only one who understands her. After some private time in her room with him, Ashley publicly dumps Jimmy, humiliates Paige and alienates most of her other friends. A messy house and broken vase when their parents get back the next morning are the least of Ash's worries.
J.T.'s brought a "party favour" for he, Sean and Toby - Ecstasy. Sean fools the younger boys into thinking they've taken it, when in fact they've only chewed Aspirin. "Under the influence," J.T. does something crazy - he kisses Liberty.
In an effort to learn his girl-getting secrets, J.T. and Toby have invited Sean to their party and they convince him to come by telling him that Emma will be there. When Emma does arrive and sees Sean, she's incredibly upset. And Toby, a true friend, comforts her.

They had some cute early moments, but she didn't really treat Jimmy that well overall.

Ashley's story is like one of those Beatrice Sparks "true stories" where the goodie-goodie protagonist tries drugs ONCE and their life is basically over. Not exactly realistic, but I like how the show portrays drugs and alcohol as something that isn't going to improve your social ranking (like in a previous episode where Terri loses Spinner because she got drunk and was acting stupid). Again, probably not realistic. In real life, the kids would probably be clamoring for more from where that came from for themselves. But still, this is a tv show which could influence young people so I like how they presented the situation.

tbh though, drugs can ruin your life pretty bad even if you try just once. My dad had a friend that was kind of like Ashley, and the guy's parents didn't want him to hang out with my dad because he was a "bad boy" (aka smoking, being out late, sometimes breaking stuff, etc), so they made him have "better" friend instead. He tried drugs once with them and is now disabled for life, can't use his legs anymore because the drugs mess with the nerve impulse.
