It's really sad that this was the last appearance of Neil Hope on Degrassi, seeing as how he died in such a sad and depressing way. However, I also will say that this is the most appropriate and perfect ending to the Wheels character. I mean, when you really think about it, Wheels was a character who never blamed himself for his own actions throughout the whole original show. Then, he drives drunk and kills a kid. Which severs his friendship with Snake. And, you couldn't blame Snake for being mad at him. His parents get killed by a drunk driver, then he decides to drive drunk and kill a kid. Then, the next generation comes around, and he apologizes to Lucy, whom he injured and temporarily blinded while he drove drunk. Then, he flat out admits he drove drunk and killed a kid to Snake. It was a redemption story for Wheels, even though it was very short. And at the end, they reconcile, have a great night together, and sing their song as friends again. To me, this was a great way to end the Wheels character. It would've been nice to see more of him in the Next Generation, but it sadly wasn't meant to be. So, Neil Hope, wherever you are, I hope you know that we remember you as the great character you played. You will always be a Degrassi original. Rest in Peace Neil Hope/Wheels We Miss You.

@@oldtwinsna8347 Yes, it happens alot with Child Stars. Him and Stacie Mistysyn (Caitlyn) not to mention Ainais Granofsky (Lucy) had the strongest ties to Degrassi in their own way. In the 1990's it became a National Issue with The Kids from Diff'Rent Strokes, Eight Is Enough, The Partridge Family and many others. In the UK it's just as bad with Former Boyband/Girlband Icons from the 1990's who find out the hard way "Pop Music Giveth, Pop Music Taketh Away". I wish someone could have counselled him and said "The Life Of A Child Star" doesn't last forever, the chosen few move on and do well for themselves. Hayley Mills did a documentary about life as a Child Star and sometimes it's very challenging. I wish he could have talked to Paul Petersen. He was a Former Mousketeer, did The Donna Reed Show, worked at Motown and was even a Pop Star for a hot Minute but he knew alot of Former Child Stars who fell on hard times and he created A Minor Consideration where "Past" Child Stars "Counsel" the "Current Crop" on how to handle their Fame. I think this is needed now more than ever especially with the problems that Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez went through.

I got to see Emma as a baby and when her mom got pregnant at 13 and the movie ends with a sad ending for most of the characters. When Wheels said "I've seen stranger," he was probably referring to what he had seen while serving time in the big house.

I scrolled down and saw a thumbnail for episode 105 of Degrassi high and it felt like a gut punch. Time really does fly by and we age so quickly

I know right spike didn't put up with snakes misery or poutiness. She put him in his place several times throughout the show. And snake did whatever spike told him to do and he respected her enough to do it.

The first time I saw this my heart stopped the second I heard his voice. Wheels was one of my favorite characters and I heard about what happened to Neil Hope so I wasn't expecting to see him again.

I'm 47. "Junior High" used to air on PBS when I was growing up. It wasn't exactly appointment viewing but when I didn't have soccer practice or my computer elective (On an Apple IIC, remember those?) I was glad to catch it. Very relatable in the 80s when it bomber parents were mostly too frightened to talk to us about drugs, our relationships or even, (in a quiet voice now because we're "decent people") s-e-x! In the '80s, there was always an episode about child abuse that was directed in a way that scared the shit out of kids! DeGrassi did one a couple years into its run where Joey made a new friend who was cool enough but kinda quiet. They were hanging at the new kid's house after school. His dad came home and the kids told Joey he had to leave and for some reason Joey overheard the dad admonish the boy for giving Joey one of his hard-earned soft drinks through the front door and then you heard the kid getting hit and, like, junk being thrown around the apartment. But you didn't see it. For some reason the way they did it really made me scared of other people's parents!

I grew up on DeGrassi TNG and recently started watching the original series from the late 80s/early 90s. After watching a young Joey and Snake, and getting to know who Wheels is and what happened with him, that “everybody wants something” scene hits different!!

Just watched through DJH and DH for the first time, and this scene hits much differently now. Oof my heart.

I watched DNG all the way through awhile black before I watched DJH and DH so this scene didn't nessissarally catch me the first time. I kind of recall watching the scene because of the seriousness of having cancer and causing a fatal drunken accident, I knew they must have been old friends obviously but I didn't understand how deep it went. Now that I went back and watched all of DJH, DH and the movie that followed all on KZbin very recently, I am so glad this scene was recommended.

Joey is naked without his iconic hat. I felt the same way when Caitlin stopped wearing her headband. Even Spike looks off without her punk hairdos.

Criminally under-utilised, wasn’t he. Talk about talent going to waste. 😀

I also feel that he's scared that if he died, he's be letting Spike and Emma down the way Shane did although it wasn't intentional.
