While I can't feel bad for Rick, I do understand his situation. His mental state was already seriously questionable and while Terri's friends were justified in hating him, they did go too far in bullying him. Degrassi portrayed this story in such a realistic manner from how the administration dealt with bullying, to the students bullying, to Rick's decreasing mental health. The storyline definitely has stayed with me since I was 9.

Ricks parents should have gotten him some serious help. Probably should have gotten him into therapy at a young age. The school should never have let Rick come back to Degrassi. Or they should at least have had an open conversation about it beforehand and offered counselling to all the students affected. The principal should have taken Ricks complaint about being bullied seriously. The students should not have bullied Rick (although I understand why they did). So much could have been done differently. But in the end, Rick decided to bring a gun to school. There is no excuse for that.

The one thing I never liked about alot of these school shooting episodes shows do is that they always push the narrative "don't bully or school shootings" or the whole "only bullies get targeted"and that's not exactly a reflective of real life.theres tons of stories were innocents that never met the school shooter were targeted and even a few stories were kids have shot up schools the never attended.
