I wasted my many years of life in school for degree but now no one ask me for my degree and what I learnt for degree that is not helpful for me anywhere in my life. You are saying that both are important but when someone enters for degree his time and energy get wasted and he has no time to develop skills and be becomes unemployed. I have seen after having 10 to 15 years industry experience still when you are applying for Jobs with right amount of knowledge and skills still you will get an upper hand if you have a degree from Tire I or II university or a professional degree while short listings your resume.

The real issue is bombarding people with this false sense that iit is better than non iits. Here's the truth - people in iits are overburdened during the course. Those who can take it becomes habitual to this. iits just provide a way to handle this enormous stress. Ofcourse telling iitians from starting that they're special also helps. However, 90 percent iitians can't handle this. They end up doing drugs or even suicide. The worst thing is many authorities hide this or blame them only.

One key point is that iits have quota. So many people actually deserved iits but end up in lower ones like nits. The same happens in nits, many people go into tier 3 even though they actually deserved nits. One must think why we talk about tier 3 while only nits and iits get the most brand value, it's because of quota.

IITs Were Never Over Hyped And They deserve the Hype. The Quality of crowd you get in IITs is far more better than any college. I Agree that IITs have reservation. But the Thing is reservation is Almost everywhere except few pvt colleges. It is a fact that cannot be ignored. Though IITs have reservation, you get best of the reserved ones. BITS + Top 7 IITs > Other IITs > NITS & Other Top clgs.
