This makes total sense. I always tell my juniors to focus on skill development rather than degrees. I'm Bcom graduate (2011 batch), now working as a Microsoft solution architect, in the first year itself I understood that commerce is not the field for me, but continued it because without a degree I won't get my first job. I started learning html and c# online, then slowly moved into server based technologies, upon clearing my graduation (47% in tybcom) I worked as a network engineer, got CCNA certification. Upon parental pressure joined MCA, the syllabus was so outdated that I left the class midway. Joined Wipro right after that and got trained in Business Intelligence Applications. Again because of parental pressure joined Excise Department, it was such an eye opener for me, it tested my patience to such an extent that I quit during my probation and went straight to an IT company and kept on updating my skills. Long story short, please focus on your passion and keep updating yourself, degrees are only for telling people that you are a graduate or a post graduate, it will help you to get your first job, that's it, doesn't matter which degree, what college or university (except the blacklisted ones). It's the skill that matters. One of my colleagues is a Hotel Management graduate and he's a solution architect. There are many stories like these. Please share this video with everyone. Mr Banerjee is doing a fantastic job.

As someone who hire and manages teams of web developers (both Backend and Frontend) across multiple regions and multiple businesses both inside and outside India, I totally agree with this analysis of lack of skill sets that really impacts a starter/junior coming into the industry. I really do not think a Uni degree has that much of an attraction to hiring managers/recruiters (like myself), in contrast I focus on the fundamental soft skills that shows ones ability to provide continuous contribution towards a success of a business/team. Upskilling is not a good to have, but is now fast becoming a major requirement in any workplace, given the speed of technological and industrial changes occurring across the board. Even local businesses and vendors had to adapt to internet, mobile technologies, web technologies and working online & remote, to meet consumer and market expectations. So if you do not upskill yourself in todays day and age, specially outside a Uni degree, then you will struggle to remain relevant to the market.

Take it from a person with a 17yr+ career in advertising & branding; degrees are only useful (if at all) to get a foot in the door in your first job. There after, it makes zero difference from where you graduated, if you did at all.

I have done my bachelor's in electronics and communication engineering. My job after graduation was related to testing and was no where connected to bachelor's course. Then I saw there is a tremendous growth in AI ML. I did a diploma in AI ML after that I got a job as an intern in a startup company and I left that started a company named Adelig Technologies with my dad's friend who is an industry expert.

One of my friend tried to sell his degree to kabaadi wala the scrap collector and get some money. Kabaadi wala refused and said "no, old newspapers are more valuable. I won't take your stupid degree."

11:18 this is the main problem I think..... parents still think that a govt. job is the best profession ever..... but I'll surely learn programming and web-developing when I'll be in college (now I'm in 11th) anyway, loved this video, it's informative

Me pursuing bachelors in civil, while I was reading textbook one of my problematic subject related to structural it's syllabus was proposed in 18s or 19s; for a sec I thought at what level today world 🌎 is going now !!. Yes we need to admit our syllabus are out dated

Bhakt ! the today's progrmamme is real life analogy of one's pursue towards career. It is true that collage does not make a difference in one's career and ones chance to achieve his/her goal.

I know a person whose dream was to get into IIT Kanpur in CSE department but just few days before the exam he got nervous because his boards didn't go well ultimately he didn't appear for IIT mains exam rather than taking a drop he took a private college (tier 3) and cracked Google Summer of Code (GSoC) right in his first year he was the best coder of his college he did an internship at google(or flipkart) in his 2nd or 3rd year and now he is pursuing MS from Stanford university California now skills matter more than IIT
