The Degtyarev DP (aka DP-27) was the subject of a bunch of experimentation during the 1930s, but none of the trialed modifications were actually adopted. It was only in 1944, after several years of combat experience, that the design was updated to correct a number of shortcomings. Specifically:
The recoil spring was moved away from the gas piston and up behind the bolt to prevent its overheating.
The traditional stock and grip safety were replaced by a pistol grip and manual safety.
The detachable bipod was replaced by a more permanently attached model.
The DPM was a much better-handling gun than the original DP, and it maintained the simple disassembly and economical manufacturing of the original. The pan magazines remained a complaint because of their awkward handling, but no easy change was available for that during the war.

Yeah it's dumb, but there really isn't any reason he can't post it. It would probably be demonetized, but that's hardly the end of the world, and hardly an excuse to not post. Just makes it seem more like a plug for the subscription while blaming YT like they're the ones forcing him to promote his streaming service. Don't get me wrong, I love the dude and his work (and I hate YT), just own up to it and say that the shooting is on the subscription as exclusive content instead of trying to hide it under the guise of "censorship" as if "The Man" won't let you post.

Thanks Ian for the video. During the Winter and Continuation War, the Finns received the weapon as war booty in such large quantities (about 9,000 pcs.) that it replaced the Lahti-Saloranta M/26 rapid-fire rifle in front-line use due to its operational reliability. The weapon remained in use by the Defense Forces until the 1990s. Degtjarjova pehotnyi assault rifles are on display, for example, in the War Museum, where the assault rifle used by President Mauno Koivisto in the Continuation War is also on display. The gun had been hidden for a long time in Törn-Männistö's gun cache, where it was found in 1992 through a report by Arvo Männistö. Emma designation In Finland, the gun was named Emma because of the association created by the 1930s "Emma" hit and the drum cap that resembles a record. You can see that the cover of the drum magazine rotates when firing.

The movie Midway is available to watch for free on KZbin. The movie, which is based on historical events, features scenes of bombing and torpedoing various ships, aerial dog fights, anti-aircraft gunning, and in one scene, captured US Servicemen tossed overboard and drowned. And yes, many, many machine guns are fired, and mass loss of life depicted. There are ZERO restrictions on its viewing, and it’s but one movie involving guns firing and violence. KZbin, do you know just how ridiculous you are being, not letting a video detailing the history and function of a firearm is, when you have a movies about war, crime, and violence toward other humans on your platform?

Talk to a NJ lawyer, but as far as I can tell, you could legally have a semiauto DP27 if it was the DP27 and not DPM (no pistol grip) and you welded on the booster - on the semiauto guns the muzzle cone is closed up to act as a booster and doesn't function as a flash hider. For magazines, if you put on an RP-46 belt-feed adapted you could run 10-round belt segments legally. How's that for an unintended consequence? Belt feed is okay but magazines aren't? :)

Just out of curiosity, how is it a scam? Big gamble, yes, because the odds of winning are relatively small. However my understanding is that Ian has really given away every gun he's done a giveaway on.
