Honestly, the reason I've re-uploaded this animatic is because I've favored it above all others. Through-out high school, through college, through my careers and into my life as a young adult. I've had a best friend named Eric, we were incredibly close. We went everywhere together, liked the same music, acted stupid together and have gotten into plenty of trouble. He was my best friend for years, and I'd even consider him a brother. I saw Eric the same way Evan en-pictured his friendship with Conner. It was the perfect friendship. As time began to pass, we've had some issues, we eventually had a falling out and we refused to speak to each other for a good year or so... The year later we decide to pick things up again, and start over as friends, plan the future together again as we've done in the past. That encounter was the last time I've ever seen Eric. He has passed away two years ago this month, and I grieve every day knowing that my best friend and brother won't be able to join me in any of my silly shenanigans and adventures. Life is fragile. Life is short and unpredictable, live each day like it's going to be your last, love your friends and family as they are there to love you back.

Okay this is for the dweebs who haven’t seen the musical and are intensely confused Aight aight strap in this is a rough ride Even Hansen is a boy with severe anxiety and I believe depression though that’s not strictly true to the musical. He has to write notes to himself because his therapist told him to and they usually start with ‘dear even Hansen today is going to be a good day (etc etc)’. One day he writes one of these letters and in it he describes how it’s not going to be a good day and how he has all his hope set on Zoe (Connors sister) but she doesn’t know he’s even alive. When printing out this letter he runs into Connor who calls him a freak for liking his sister (earlier in the musical they did have a run in and Connor signed Evans cast). Connor later commits suicide. In Connors pocket is Evans note and so Connors parents believe Evan and Connor are friends. So they invite Evan over and even though even Denies being friends with Connor at first he notices how upset the family was so he makes up stories about him and Connor being friends to ease the family. *ta da*

The fact this is a different version of his attempt hits hard for me. This is what he wanted to happen instead of what did. He wanted someone to be there for him.

It can be read a couple ways. Some see it as a metaphor, the boy that committed suicide getting Conner to climb the tree is symbolizing the pull he felt to attempt his. The fact Connor is making it up goes into that. I like to read it as him doubling down on the lie. He is twisting his darkest moment as a beautiful "light" so the people around him can feel comfort. He definitely described what he sees as the best thing to happen with his emotions cracks reading as a friend in morning instead of a guy telling you his attempt without saying it was an attempt.

Galaxy Animator lmao they were never friends. They’d only had a short conversation once, where Connor signed Evan’s cast. They might have become friends if Connor hadn’t committed suicide. In the song Evan pretends he and connor were best buds and lies about how they used to hang out to Connor’s grieving family in the hopes of making them feel better. he also hopes to get closer to Zoe, Connor’s sister. Hands down the most underrated animatic I’ve seen. Yes I still love it. Yes I think about it constantly. Yes I still cry. Beautiful. Looking forward to the new movie
