I always thoroughly wash any rice before cooking. Just because we don’t know what it’s been coated with. I love the idea of dehydrating cooked rice! I usually Food Save my leftover rice & freeze but I’m looking into non-refrigeration methods of keeping easy foods.

I don't dehydrate cooked rice for myself just to go with dog food as it easy to soak in broth in the morning then it is ready for his evening meal. Also when I make rice for us I normally make more than we need that way we can have it over two days as well as the dog can have it.

Would it help to wash the rice first and make it less starchy? It may help to keep it from getting so pasty. Also, what is the ratio of dehydrated rice to water (or stock)? Thank you for your video, and I have subscribed to your channel.

I only do rice this way ti bulk up the dog food as I don't need much each day. I use the cheapest rice I can find which tends to mean there is a lot of starch in it.

I generally let most things dehydrate over night and check for dry ness in the morning.

A dehydrator is a piece of equipment that pulls the moisture out of foods to prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold. It dries food at a lower heat level to preserve the nutrients and enzymes in the food. A dehydrator allows you to naturally extend the shelf life of food without the need to add preservatives. There are two main types. A round one is cheaper and pushes air up through the centre of a number of trays, and a square or rectangular one that has the fan and heating element at the rear, these are more expensive.
