I've got dozens of eggs in my Excalibur as I watch this, LOL! I also froze some in cupcake papers and labeled RAW eggs on the freezer bag. The eggs in the dehydrator have been in overnight. I got up this morning and flipped the thicker places. Yesterday was a huge haul of butternut squash and pumpkins, the Delicata was ready a couple weeks ago. I love putting away food, but as we get into the 40-degree, cloudy, spitting rain fall weather, I'm working to be finished with garden work and move on to winter activities such as quilting and listtening to audio books in my nice warm house! You know, Heidi, I'm so happy to be home, surrounded by mostly animals all day, and not deal with people. I'm sorry that people complain, cuss, etc., at you, when you are brave to put yourself out there and offer us such useful information. You keep me from 'reinventing the wheel', when I'm putting food up. THANK YOU!

I agree with you on the food saver. Not worth the money and for those looking for a sealer to do volume, please don't buy the cheaper brands. They do not hold up if you do volume. They wear out quick. We bought a professional model for restaurants etc and it does the job. But even so all vacuum sealers have their quirks. Keep up the videos I really enjoy and learn a lot. Heidi, just thought I'd add that it has also been suggested to keep an eye on your bottles of dehydrated goods in their bottles for 3+ days for any moisture that might appear. That being said, it is also suggested that once you've powdered your items, that you spread them out on parchment paper on a cookie sheet, preheat your oven on its lowest setting (usually 170), then turn it off and place the cookie sheet in the oven with only the light on for 30 minutes or longer if needed. It can also be done without preheating the oven by just placing it in the oven with the light on only with the door propped open slightly and leaving it all night. These methods will help ensure your powder is good and dry. Love your videos, I have learned so much from you and I am very grateful.

I have been dehydrating for many yrs . I am very selective on what I can because of storage issues . Dehydrating foods allows for a greater amt of food storage in a smaller space . I have a friend that thought she just had to have a freeze dry dehydrator & she has since sold it & gone back to the reg dehydrators . That freeze dryer uses ALOT more energy than the regular dehydrators . I would not give mine up for anything . I hope you enjoy the 1 you get as much as I do mine .

Most of the time, I agree with you, or, like what your doing. Occasionally, I don't. Though I may share my preferences with you, I never act like your wrong. You never act like I'm wrong. We just choose to do it differently. Theres nothing wrong with that at all. Personally, I welcome your various methods as something for me to consider in case I need it one day. I love the break bleeder. I love my vacuum sealer. Since you showed me the brake bleeder, I use both, depending on what I'm doing. I've also started dehydrating rather than just freeze drying. I just mark directly on the acrylic bar, a little rubbing alcohol takes it right off, however, the tape may be the best idea for the darker ones (like the grey) as it will be easier to read. The sharpie does not show up so well on those! haha

The know it all generation doesn’t want to learn from others experiences, I myself love that you do experiments and share your results and opinions !!!!! Think of the ideas and options you have given to people about preserving food, not everyone can afford a freeze dryer and some can’t afford a vacuum sealer……you make it possible for those people to confidently preserve food !!! I have eggs in one of my 4 dehydrators 😙, they are taking a long time but it’s rainy, foggy and cold right now. I probably should have waited for the weather to dry up a little or did it back in the hot dry summer 🤷🏼♀️ Has anyone out there done a test to see what it costs to run a dehydrator ?? Agree with your sentiments. I have a FS, too. I use it to seal up meat for the freezer. It's a good tool for the pantry. Followed the steps in your dehydrated-eggs video last week with fantastic results. Have now done several dozen eggs and have plenty for storage. Wonderful tips, thank you so much!

I appreciate you taking time to show us how to do this. I am so sorry some people cussed you. My ex Mother in law just put her strips of meat hanging on the racks, again thank you for sharing. You are a blessing to me.
