Tried dehydrating some yellow squash like the zucchini snacks that we make and it came out real good. This video shows the final thickness and dehydrator settings we have settled on to get the results we like.

We dry the zucchini in thicker strips and use to make lasagna all winter. Just lay the strips in the pan and they rehydrate while cooking. We also do chunks that are about 3/4 inch thick and use in crockpot soups and stew.

Oh THANKS for yet another great video! I am doing that also! Did it last year thanks to you. I don't grow yellow squash. But this makes great use of zucchini. It is a little tricky getting the salt right. I tend to make it too salty. The flavor is a combo of savory, sweet and salty. A GREAT healthy snack in the middle of winter! I was amazed how much flavor a zucchini has when concentrated. I use the same Krazy Salt. (Only place I can find it is on Amazon.) A most important step is to vacuum seal them. Speaking of knives, believe it or not, your local Goodwill probably has some good ones if you look. I found an old knife with fabulous steel that sharpens to perfection. You just have to know how a well-made knife is put together, and I know you do. I can't wait to see the vacuum sealer review because I am in the market for a better one.

Thanks. I was surprised how good the yellow squash also turned out. A much sweeter flavor. These definitely have turned out being some of our favorite snacks. Getting the right amount of crazy salt is tough. I find if you don't remove the plastic seal piece in the container and only push it down a little it helps control the flow. That stuff is expensive but we have not found any other seasoning that is perfectly balanced for veggies and grilling. We don't go in Goodwill stores anymore. The ones around here have mostly new low end stuff except for clothes. We really miss our local salvation army store that closed last year. This sealer really sucks. It is so easy to use that my wife will use it. I purchased a bunch of their bags also that I am waiting for and will do a review after using it for a while. So far it works great and is very fast plus the bags only cost about 25% of the foodsaver bags and are the exact same weight. You do have to give it about 5 seconds between bags or the seal strip gets hot and will prematurely start sealing the next bag. Going to try a chamber sealer next year. Thanks for watching.

Well the vacuum sealer was just shipped back. only good for full vacuum. The pulse and impulse didn't work. Bad seals and then a reseal would crush everything. It was not worth $300 the way it worked. It had all good reviews on amazon but none mentioned if the pulse worked. If you gave a good Amazon review you got a extra year of warranty. Waiting to see if they post my review that was not perfect. It only had full uncontrollable vacuum and I may be headed to Costco for another Foodsaver as I need one now and most better ones are sold out

I tried that years ago but only to re-hydrate. Now I've got to do some for chips. I use a 60's dial-a-matic for slicing. It has a railed push bar so your hands are always safe. It's not as fast as the spikey handle grip but it works well. I vacuum seal all sorts of foods.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 thank you my father had bought me $9,000 Excalibur and that was years ago and I had the best blenders and the best everything he made sure I was set up for life. And I loved my little hand mandolin and I think I do have one of those in storage I'm kind of parked in a living room right now. He was a very crabby quiet Man but generous when it came to setting me up with things to live off the land as much as possible realising an Excalibur is electric LOL and the blenders were restaurant quality so you could run the motor all day long. The one had to cover so it wasn't so noisy cuz that wears on me. But before I could really get to using them the way I wanted to I lost everything to a very selfish relative and maybe even a few that got together. The two blender's were taken by some workers who are putting in new windows where I'm staying. That's enough info I might as well put my address. When I finally get to my forever home again I hope to be able to figure out how to come up with my solar stuff that I used to use in the old days that did so much at one time I made these beautiful screens with one by one's two by twos. The one covered everything so that flies didn't get on my food. That house was fully on the grid but I treated it like it wasn't. I was practicing for the days of very little or no electricity. You can put a thought or two in because it's time to go to that forever home at my age I don't want to be moving around anymore and what I do have is in storage. Take care and I love your video.

We do other sizes without seasoning for soups also. I tried some cross slices and they were just too much handling and didn't always look so good because the skin and inside shrink at different rates while drying where slices stay fairly flat. They both taste the same but we prefer slices for snacking. The sealer works great, just need some time to play with it and waiting for more bags. Have to get used to the extra vacuum power as it really sucks compared to the foodsaver I was using. Best part is my wife will use this one because it is simple and works every time. Jars are great for items you don't want to crush but want all the air removed from. Thanks for watching.

Oh wow, sorry to hear about the Sealer. That is disappointing as heck to have to send it back! What a waste of your time and effort! Ugh, I hate that. It's so common these days -- that it's a pleasant surprise to actually keep something. I just returned a Southland 17 in. Gas Multi-Function Wheeled String Trimmer to Home Depot. It was a $245 disappointment. Thought it would save my shoulders because I have to do a huge amount of weedwacking but it was no different than a manual push mower -- and actually harder to use! Now you have to probably return all the bags too. I see a lot of commercial chamber sealers on ebay. A friend just bought one and loves it. But they bought it ordered it from a store. Those things are REALLY heavy. They are very pricey though and can cost a bundle, but you probably save in the long run because the bags are so much cheaper! The wide mouth jar sealer for my Food Saver works well, but the regular mouth (that I use for herbs) never works. BTW, I peeled and dried a bunch of my garlic in my Excalibur dehydrator and then turned into powder with my Vitamix. (I keep it outside on the porch to keep the noise, heat and fumes outside.) It is so potent and now I have my own organic garlic powder. It seemed like a great way to preserve the flawed garlic that didn't look perfect for storage. I think I'll mix some with Krazy Salt and a bit of dried parsley & a bit of onion powder and make a ready-made garlic bread mix! Good Luck finding another Sealer!

I need a sealer with an external port as those chamber sealers can't fit the 1/2 gallon jars. Waiting to do a review video until I see what they hit me with for the shipping and restocking charges because the box was opened and I had to use it to find it didn't work right. I bought 400 bags but they will work with a food-saver also so I will keep them. All sealers are made in China now and there is a shortage of any good ones so we probably will just grab one from Costco for now. It seems most reviewers never actually use the products these days or they don't know how a product should work. Both my jar sealers work good. The small one will only do quart and pint jars. I have a video coming soon showing how to get the exact amount of crazy salt on the zucchini. The crazy salt goes twice as far now. There will be no vampires around your house.

Most chamber sealers will hold like 6 pint or smaller jars stood up in the chamber but to get the height for quarts and half gallons it is a very big expensive sealer. These are the quart bags I got amzn.to/3hVsS8T also got quart plus and gallon size. They are made by Avid Armor the company I got the sealer from. Supposed to work with foodsavers also. Lighter then foodsaver bags but seem to work fine at 1/4 the cost. They are from China and claim to be BPA free along with meeting FDA specs. Waiting for the pint and 1/2 pint bags to be in stock to use for individual servings. Just need a sealer not to use them.
