So true. 💯 I try to be very mindful of this as well. An item can be visually attractive to us in so many ways when we see it on a hanger or another person, but none of that matters if it doesn’t feel right when we imagine ourselves wearing it or physically try it on.
@bonniehickey9978Ай бұрын
Totally agree about the idea of “timeless” items not being really timeless. There are always articles about the timeless basics everyone needs. The problem is that the latest cut, length, collar shape, etc change, and then the timeless pieces can look dated.

I know due to ultra fast trends, it's messing up the ability to find trend-immune or timeless clothing. There is men's clothing but even men's clothes have a few trends thrust on them every couple years nowadays too 😂 maybe it's just a little slower and less extreme in men's clothes.
@sarin485Ай бұрын
i get what you’re saying but, speaking from a male perspective ofc, if you think a paint of straight cut chinos goes out of style i think it’s a matter of maturity. Oversized “giant” fit and skinny are the two extremes that get tossed back and forth.
@renenetatm8222Ай бұрын
I think those articles are misleading people, because they don't focus on the cut and simply state that for example a black blazer is a timeless piece, but whether it's timeless or not really depends on the cut. Timeless are always very simple and basic, regular length, regular classic fit (not oversized, but not tight either), no interesting details standing out. I have a blazer like this I bought around 8 years ago (dark charcoal grey rather than black) and it's timeless. It wasn't trendy back then and it's not trendy now, but a classic like this isn't outdated.
@celiamergen2091Ай бұрын
Not to be all sentimental, but my grandma always made animal prints look elgant, even when it was most out of style. I think she was a really good judge of cuts and fabric materials that looked good on her, and because of that she always came across looking elegant.

The gold button trend is the easiest to follow, just go to the craft store and replace the buttons on the sweater/cardigan you already own or thrifted. It's like 2 dollars for a package of buttons (if you ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE IT ANYWAY). I already have a plaid sweater with gold buttons on it since it's my style.

Also, I know which colors I like to wear and stick to these (black, grey, army green and burgundy mostly), everytime I get something out of my comfort zone I end up not wearing it. Rather than adding in trendy items I’m hoping it means I can easily replace some of my worn out items that I love. Items I know I will continue to wear for years.

As someone who has has built my wardrobe over ten years I always stick to what I love and will wear seasonally not trend focused. I've got a leopard print coat/tops I thrifted years ago and haven't worn in a while and have recently brought them out of my wardrobe and worn them again. I wear mainly black and integrate coloured items with my black items for a pop of colour. I find a lot of items on vinted when I want to find something classic and timeless.

I have two accessories in leopard print...a silk scarf and an umbrella...I generally only have solids for pants and tops and I think the print in a scarf is "just enough". I will be right on trend with the olive, burgundy, caramel, brown, and gray pieces I already own. I do have quite a few cargo style pants, and two pairs I really love for fall in lightweight wool....I don't know if those are still on trend again, but regardless, they will always be part of my personal style.

I have all these colors in my wardrobe already. This is good, because as I’ve mentioned under other videos, I’m on a no-buy for a school assignment in my addictions therapy class. So far, so good, and I really need to stick with it. Had surgery in July and bills will be tight through the end of the year. 🥴 Pray for me. 🙏 😂

Two years ago i decided to sit down with a capsule wardrobe planner\workbook and ive just been buying to fill the plan. Olive green and yellow and cottagecore print is my spring. Gem tone purple and red and moody wallpaper is my fall. Its so nice to feel the urge to shop, pulling out the planner and saying " oh, i could use a green cardigan... But not a million purses." Also i do have leopard in my fall wardrobe, one dress and one tank top lol. People are always claiming its a basic but girl why does it take no prisoners in every other of my seasons lmao!

Leopard print is timeless, at least I think so. But you are right I never got rid of my basic pieces. And just actually that coat you are wearing was also a 1950's trend and 1980s trend. Just goes to show it all comes back which is what makes thrifting such a great way to shop:-)

Seeing denim on denim as a trend is kind of funny to me because it's already part of my core style! Also you're right it's SO easy to thrift denim. Last year I thrifted a super flattering, dark-wash Ralph Lauren jean jacket and I love that thing so much. Personally I like to mix and match washes when I wear double denim, ex. that jacket I mentioned with light wash jeans, or dark wash jeans with a lighter jacket or chambray shirt. Add your favorite tee or sweater and you're good to go. It'll always be a classic to me!

I agree leopard print is only timeless if you buy classic pieces or basics in that print and you stick to the natural leopard print colours not the pinks and green ect...😂

Loved your breakdown of these trends and the considerations you mentioned for each of them. I actually mentioned something similar in my comment on your fall trend predictions video when it comes to colors. I love bright colors and wear them all the time, but in the past I was often enticed by the color and ignored other aspects of the item that don't work for my style, which resulted in me decluttering the item eventually. I only have two green items left in my wardrobe, not because I don't like green, but because I didn't like the silhouettes of the green items I did own. Most of my wardrobe is red/burgundy, magenta/berry, and cobalt blue/navy. I feel like those are evergreen shades. You can buy them pretty much anytime in a lot of different styles. In contrast, a lot of other shade have one "trendy"/seasonal variation that isn't always to my taste. Or if I like the color it might be combined with a trendy silhouette I don't care for. I notice that especially with green and purple. Some shades are more seasonal, I have more yellow, light blue, and turquoise in my summer wardrobe and a couple of orange pieces in my fall/winter wardrobe. I would also wear a bright turquoise or yellow sweater, but that's an uncommon color choice for the fall/winter season.

I’m with you on the faux further and leather. I told myself that I will not buy either because they don’t last. Not just as jackets, but as any piece with either material. Then I found myself in Marshall’s with a jacket with both materials combined- the very thing I said I wasn’t going to do, but because of the brand and price I got caught up. Didn’t get it and I’m glad. I love leopard print and camo print so I wear that all year round for most seasons 😊

I never quite understood seasonal color changes for clothes, makeup and home decor. I say just wear what you like. Of course in winter you’ll wear warmer clothes, but yeah just wear whatever color, same with makeup. That being said it has been harder to get dressed for summer because almost my whole closet is black lol. For home decor I understand adding/swapping in a Christmas tree or Halloween decor, but buying all new fall decor seems excessive.

Another thing to consider with chunky hair accessories is ypur hair texture. Big, heavy hair clips look incredible on thick, strong hair. If your hair is light and fine, though, it's going to get dragged down like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree (not to mention basically disappearing inside the accessory).

I've discovered this year (I'm 30 btw) that people uses colours depending of the season they currently are. Like... Why are you guys doing that? It's for the change of lighting, or...? I like blue. All blues, from baby/paatel, to cyan and cerulean to royal and navy. And I use it all year long. Same with true red. I always thought winter is enough dark and cold by itself, the last thing we need is using just black (or grey and brown if you're "daring") to cover us head to hoe lol

I agree with you so much on patterns like leopard print. IT IS DIFFERENT EVERY TIME IT RE-CIRCULATES. I make a rule for myself to only get one or two trendy pieces. I love the clothes I have so I don’t ever need much but I will restyle my things to update them. 😊love your channel. First time commenting. 😊

I worked retail for 14 and nursing for 12 . I am homemaker for past 10 years and it was so freeing to wear jeans and a shirt ,sweaters,hoodies and not scrubs 7 days a week. I am gonna be 54 but now I get to choose what I want to wear.and I can wear makeup,perfume when I did nursing it was frowned so much .

I have a burgundy pieces that i was thinking on bringing out for this season, and it got me excited that it conincide with this season's trends, especially that i like jewel earthy tones. im really just hoping the peacoats will be back in trend since my good old peacoat had to retire, it was very loved and served me well.

I love leopard print but not on my clothes. My favorite phone case is leopard print which I’m using right now and I always bring out for fall/winter each year. I also have a laptop case in leopard and it gives my very boring desk a nice touch 😊 when it comes to fall/winter it will always be darker colors and variations of shades so you really can’t go wrong with whatever you already have in your closet

Personally I love leopard print accessories, so I’m getting a few pieces this time around. I still have most of mine from the 90’s and mid-2000’s. I have a 50’s-ish thing going on so it works for me. I know I’ll be wearing it for years because I never stopped! It doesn’t work on everyone, and it doesn’t match everyone’s vibe but it works for me. Burgundy and deep reds will always be in my rotation, as they look great with my coloring. If I find something I like I might pick some up. Figuring out my season really helped me zero in on what I’m willing to buy. Blue based reds fit right in with my deep Autumn palette, and look great with black. Most of these though I’ll end up skipping. I know they aren’t for me, and I’m not into the slouchy or over sized look, so my money is staying put. I like fitted silhouettes on me. I have one coat I love, but want a second coat to choose from so I’ll continue to wear that and continue saving up to have a different one that also matches my aesthetic made. The chunky jewelry is certainly a no for me. I like it on others sometimes but it doesn’t look right on me. Same with double denim. Not for me. I wasn’t into it last time and that hasn’t changed. Hope everyone who loves it enjoys it!

Totally agree, you have an healthy way of thinking clothes. As a very short torso and strong arms women, I'm personally very glad for the cropped trench trend, but you're right, for the most part, it seems that someone have cut them without any thought, leaving the peace with a strange unfinished style, that will be really hard to style in a few years.

I just thrifted a leopard print t shirt. It's good fabric and a good cut and I'd already decided that I kind of like leopard because it's neutral but the pattern adds a bit of interest. I'm happy with that purchase and that is all the animal print I need. I do like classic style and adding a bit of pizzazz into the mix. What I need to do is refrain from purchasing too many thrifted finds that don't go with my style; ie just buying a thing because it's a good find.
