Rumor has it that Deion is going back to the recruiting of the '80s that made the University of Miami a dynasty. He's funneling the majority of Florida HS players to Colorado. How do you @espn only focus on the number players that transferred and not even mention the fact that Colorado had a 1-11 record as a power 5 school last year? Neither Coach that you referenced as an example in your “comparison” walked into that situation. The level of change was necessary based on the lack of production on the field. I don’t know of any sport where a 1-11 record is considered successful or acceptable. The Athletic Director along with Boosters and fans wanted a change, so he hired someone to do it. You don’t have to change as much if you take over a program with 5 or 6 wins in the previous season as opposed to a team with a single victory. Shouldn’t that be obvious? 🤔 Coach Sanders has established a pretty good track record for winning throughout his career as a player and coach. Most of the sports or entertainment related Media in America will do a story on him if he fails to turn around the football team. Why wouldn’t he make major changes to the program?

The military academies prove year-after-year that that athletic ability is important, but mental attitude and desire to win are just as important. The "little guys" at Air Force have winning teams and are invited to bowl games most years, and have been doing so since at least the early 1980's.

From the terrible 2022 team, Colorado is keeping: --their best returning tackler, safety Trevor Woods They lost --their #1 receiver, a freshman last year who averaged 21 yards a catch --their DB with the most picks last year (only 2) Nikko Reed, had 3 total INTs for CO in two years --their #1 RB, who didn't have many total yards rushing, but did average 4.8 yards a carry when he got the ball. -their #2 and #3 WRs as well, both over 15 yards a catch but not many total yards

As a one time and long time team player, if I was looking for a future in the sport I would want a chance to shine. Maybe they aren't leaving because of the coaching change as much as they know their current team mates suck, and they may run out of college before the pros look closely at them. To shine your brightest in team sports, you need to be on a good team.

Is it they (players) didn't build relationships with the coaches or the coaches didn't build relationships with the players. Those 71 players did not make the decisions to enter the portal alone but I am sure the parents had a say in it also. They observed what was going on and decided this was not the best fit for their sons. It's sad that these coaches are addressed as if they are perfect and do no wrong, while the players are the problems. Those Players and their families saw that it was getting real, and Colorado which is a predominantly Caucasian college always had guys who were "privileged" starting in positions because of family. Now everyone has to earn a spot. I myself, don't think that Shadur is a great QB, IMHO he is average and will not go top 10 in the NFL draft.

85 Headcount Scholarships are allowed in D1 FBS. Average D1 Power5 team size is 118. If 71 scholarship players have left that opens up 71 of those 85 scholarships for new recruits. If you were 1-11, and Sanders has evaluated game film, and he's telling you that you can leave its because you can go ahead and get gone. Those players will likely land on FCS or D2 teams that can use them.
