That’s how you coach. Right there not just about what’s going on on the field. If you’re a coach, you have to understand that these guys are looking to you for leadership. And when you have a guy like Prime at the top showing the young one what to do and how to do it, it’ll lead to success. But if you’re not in all the way and you allow distractions (like a cell phone)to pull your focus away, that’s when you fail.

@Zack from the North coach is conveying to them that this opportunity to help a lot of them get a better life then what they currently have or their family has, requires full focus. So while a cell phone might be insignificant to you, if coach puts rules in place saying you can use the phone during the game, then you follow the rules. There’s plenty of professions in the world that don’t let use phones during work. So this just instills to them you follow the rules or you GTFO.

I played football through college and some beyond. I have experienced all kinds of coaching. "Old School" to me means that, because the coach realizes that the game is a prototype for the rest of your life, he is a firm disciplinarian. He realizes how one distracted individual can derail the destiny of an entire team. He teaches how you are to handle victories and defeats; how you are to become a productive part of the whole by realizing that others are depending on you. He teaches that you NEVER quit on yourself or your teammates. He teaches that with hard work and the pursuit of excellence, you can become more than the sum of just your natural talents. Great coaches can create great men and women. There are lots of good coaches.....very few Great ones.
