I feel for those young men who were highly recruited by other colleges, yet chose to attend JSU under Deion Sanders. They bought into his coaching them throughout their college career playing football for JSU! I wish him the best in his future endeavors. But, my heart truly goes out to those young men and I wish them much success.

@@Juan_deep baby baby now I go to JSU girl it be the same ppl who ain’t never donate to help an hbcu or jsu talk down on a guy who changed our whole school. You don’t even understand how amazing this year was in school just the football team winning and the media we got made eveyeone happy but in JSU their always was talks of admin having too much control of the schools money and not doing anything with it. Mind you every single game was sold out but the tickets and the number of ppl didn’t match. Man in homecoming and college game day it was reported that in those 3 games they should have made over 19 million in economic impact!!!! In 2021 Jackson state football team generate 30 million for the city !!! Record breaking and that was last year imagine this year!!!!! Each swac championship they made 8 million! Back to back champions . The 4 home games this year made 16.2 million !! Many local business saw a huge economic change to their revenue and city. Where is all this money and baby this all reported and true go search it up . Their was a whole local article in school that eveyeone read that said Deion was supposed to get a 10% cut after they reach 30,000 or some but he never got it reported but the school always kept shouting every game this is our “10 consecutive sell out” like a good football team brings in so much money for a school and city and trust me baby Deion brought millions upon millions girl he changed our dusty dirty water fountain drink that the school was telling us that they were going to change for years. He put his team staff and their families in hotels for days when the city had dirty water. He asked pay for his staff cuz the school were low balling them and admin wasn’t trying to do that. They were stingy asf with the money but they never showed us where the money went but they wanna get new cars chillleeeeee. Come on now we been asking for parking spots for students long before Deion was here and they said they had no funds but now that Deion is bringing in funds we kept asking them and they kept saying they don’t have any trust me they do they mishandled the money and it was talks around the school months before . Also alums never really donated and kept depending on Deion to do eveuthing this man brought sponsors to literally pay for everything . Deion wanted the school to help him get suits for each kid they denied so what he do he used his realtionship with Michael strahan and got a suit for each kid on game day . He helped bring espn to hbcu with a 10 year 120 million dollar deal come on. He used his realtionship with American Airlines to get private flights to each game they needed to flight in a normal college the school pays for these things not the coach especially when the coach was on a 300k salary and half of that was to the practice field , football field , new facility , new locker room, conference , and the boys and girls basketball team got a new locker room. I swear I’m a senior now when I tell you freshmen year the school kept saying they were going to make a new field they never did but kept asking for donations and kept getting it but nothing to show for it when Deion came he made ts happen in a snap of a finger that was not a good look. His sons cars were constantly broken into I mean constantly they were targeted by ppl who knew that they were their cars and JSU did nothing to investigate and let it go on and it’s always been a problem but they never address it. Do you know what other college team had more uniforms then JSU this year Oregon ducks!!! A piwer 5! He gave them kids new threads weekly with their last name on their back so their families can be proud they never had that before at most of these colleges they play for the name on the front and don’t want you to get fame from the name on the back but Deion ain’t care. He used his realtionship and got a sponsor from under armoir for them jerseys. He gave my cousin a second chance to play for the team after the school wanted to drop him cuz or his grades but they didn’t know he was struggling because his father was in the hospital my uncle but Deion did and vouched for him and they still were hating but he didn’t stop. I’m telling you the school got way too comfortable and thought Deion needed them and said way too many NO then YES. The bare minimum of him asking for his staff to get paid and they denied so he had to pay some from his pocket and ppl wonder why most of his staff came with him because they finally abiut to get paid what they worth. He changed all those guys lives. He brought the #1 recruit Travis hunter . He brought a 4 star Kevin Coleman . His son had offers to play for alabama, usc, Oklahoma etc but came to JSU. Back to back swac champions 27-5 overall record . Got the team sponsors from barstool , under armoir , overtime , American Airlines , afleck, . Deion brought a new celebrity each game they came and showed love cuz of Deion no one else. He used his realtionship to get what he wanted because he couldn’t do anything he wanted at JSU he was limited especially with a school that was playing odd. The last home game of the year instead of JSU doing a tribute for him like they’ve done for all coaches even when they were terrible they literally sang a goodbye song and were disrespectful asf “ Go ahead and leave then “. Maybe if every black American actually donated and help hbcus they would be more than enough help and admins were checked yearly how they spend their money we would be good. Deion brought in millions honey I’m telling you a good program changes everything but when the admin can’t show where they put the money it gets fishy and weird especially when ppl who never see money like that don’t know how to handle it and that’s always been a problem for multiple hbcus admins showing nothing of where the money goes. Even with the city money that Deion brought in they used that to clean roads , construction, clean water for certain areas etc Jackson state made more money this last 2 years from a

Not what I heard. He said he is leaving because you are either "elevated or terminated", so he took another job. Then the very next sentence he is telling the players "don't start thinking there is something better on the other side". He is doing exactly what he told his players not to do. This was only his 3rd season with this team, they won the title twice. He was in no danger what so ever of losing his coaching position, if anything, they were about to give him a raise to keep him there. He just decided it looked better on the other side, plain and simple.

The hard part for me, as a former player, is when you hear a coach repeatedly say "buy in" or "trust" the process/system. As soon as they get something better, they dip out. But they don't want you to do the same. I'm glad that he got his team to play hard and didn't sandbag games like Herman did before he left Houston, Freeze with Liberty and so many other coaches. I feel for those kids.

He would have been a fool not to take the Colorado job. There are very few environments in college football like Folsom Field. Gen Z doesn't understand it, but Colorado is not long removed from being an elite football program. Keyshawn Johnson said that Deion should take the job because he wants the Buffaloes to get back to how good they were under Bill McCartney. Deion will not only be able to bring in the best football players in the Southwest to the Boulder, but he'll have the complete support of the University of Colorado to use as many financial resources as he needs to turn the program around.

Then he goes to the high schools. He's pretty much told the existing CO players to get into the portal. That being said he did exactly what he was suppose to do. He put a spotlight on HBCU's and brought his team a championship. It is up to the rest of the HBCU's to pick up the torch and keep going forward. There wasnt enough money, too many big names, too many 5 star athletes and not enough competition at that level of competition. Its like high schoolers playing Junior High students. I played Division II college football in the early 1980s and went through a coaching change my sophomore year. It was at that point when I got my wake up call about why I was really there. The new coach told us he was going run the team like a business and we were just like products on a store shelf. He said he would get rid of anyone that wasn’t producing. There was no warm and fuzzy feelings there. He made it clear he was there to win football games because that’s how he fed his family. The painful reality is he was right. He didn’t care about having a close personal connection with his players. It’s a business for college coaches unlike most high school coaches. I’m also a retired high school football coach of 35yrs with 25 as a head coach. I had players play on every college division level with a very few playing in the NFL. I told everyone of them before they signed their athletic scholarship that they were going to college to get a college education for a career first not the NFL. One was lucky enough to play 11yrs in the NFL and coaches in the NFL today. The rest only played one or two years. So with that said every 4 star and 5 star high school football player will not have a NFL future. When Coach Prime signed a high school player to play football at Jackson State that kid had already won. He was giving that young man an opportunity to get a college education to have a career beyond playing football and to help his family. Coach Prime has lived up to his end of the deal by giving these young men the opportunity at a better life through paying for school with a athletic scholarship. Most forget when it comes to education the laws of physics are the same at Jackson State and any Division I or I AA school. Education is first not football. Coach Prime thanks for raising the bar and reminding people that HBCUs play good football . I think Coach Sanders has done more to help these young black men than he will ever know by making being a head football coach cool. The next Eddie Robinson may be watching him and deciding right now he wants to be a successful head football coach at a HBCU.

Great inside from the PoV from a coach but I feel like he made it personal and mentored those kids because of who they were and their individual circumstances. If you pay attention to this channel he was settin' them up for success OUTSIDE of football as you dabbled in. But even better than education he was giving them LIFE lessons. That's infinitely more important than football and education. Nothing matters in this life when you pass. It's about setting yourself up for the NEXT life. So my only greivance is how he stepped up as that mentor-father figure for some and now he's out. I felt like his role in mentorship was better than his role as a coach. I personally felt like that was his TRUE calling at JSU. Maybe his time is up? Only God can say but I just hope none of the kids misinterprets this. Hopefully, they take him up on the offer on the personal conversation. I'm divided on this because I wish him well but at the same time if I was a young man and he did this I'd be torn. He didn't even stay for the length of his entire contract. And it's crazy to me how we're suppose to abide by contracts but I guess it doesn't matter in Sports? Just pay the penalty and go on about your day?

Great post. My question though is the middle ground between education and what’s best for the student-athlete’s future vs. when that conflicts with short term gain And best interests of the coach? I know for a fact in most cases, the latter is Overwhelmingly prioritized! Smdh coaches recruiting these kids and then encouraging the majority to take weaker majors & classes to not conflict with or complicate football schedules for practice, weight training, film study, mandatory meetings. Discouraging downtime, social activities beyond team functions and campus events available to the average students. Encouraging them to sacrifice any pursuits literally best for personal career development beyond their college football careers. I’ve seen this up close for myself AND gained direct insight from players across P5 conferences. So the concept of coaches using players as disposable pieces for their own personal gain isn’t respectable nor innocent when the house always tips in favor of itself and at the expense of essentially exploiting student athletes most of whom don’t even get the full value of the education you say is first priority for them

Like real bad we had parents come talk to us in groups to console us. I didn't understand but a woman with great wisdom told me, it's not about the leader. It's about what you take from them that they taught you and apply that to your life moving forward. That has stayed with me since then. They are here to teach you and it's up to you if you'll continue to put in the work yourself and not only rely on leadership. If the program dropped off the map like any program can with a great infrastructure people would be like he has fallen off. Now to infrastructure, Jackson has a clean water crisis that has been going on for years and years and received funding 1.8 Billion dollars 💵 and it wasn’t fixed. Mississippi has the highest poverty rate in the U.S. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 19.6 percent of Mississippians live below the poverty line. These are two major factors. Gentleman has gone thru incredible self-renewal. the young men need to look up to him regardless you are black or whatever your skin color is. Just watch his humility, humanity, grace and his reasonableness in talking to you. it is so up-lifting. Just look at his contemporaries, where they end up and where Deion Sanders is now. Watching the tour of the CU facility reminds me of the opening words of the classic Charles Dickens novel, _A Tale of Two Cities._ "It was the best of times; it was the worse of times." There are quite a few parallels. I am first reminded of the jubilation experienced by the JSU family when Coach Prime arrived in Jackson and gave his inaugural speech. There was a cheering section then, and there is a cheering section at CU. While the cheers at CU are just beginning, those that once rang out on the campus of JSU have now gone silent. It was the best of times; it was the worst times. When the people of Boulder look at their recent football history, this hire makes them smile with joy. When the people of Jackson look at their recent football history this hire makes them frown with grief. It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. For me personally, I was reflecting on the upgrades to the JSU locker room, practice field, uniforms, etc, which were indeed a blessing. But then I remembered what CU had to offer in those same areas, and I had a sobering but frightening revelation. It really put everything into perspective. It showed just how far behind the curve that HBCUs really are. And it makes you wonder if there is really hope that the proverbial playing field will ever be leveled. It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.

So sad to see prime leave JSU, the plan was to get the student athletes to buy into his program and move on to the next program who would offer more money. As a former athlete, i never trusted any coach or athletic director in deciding my fate. I always were aware of their position in life, to take care of their family first and to move on to glory. Players never be loyal to any university or coaching staff, take care of yourself and family, sport is a business. As i said 40 years ago to my coach, athletes are being prostituted by the system and put out to pasture, and another athlete is there to take your place. This is unfortunate, however i continue to believe this as of 2022. Athletes please get your degree, sports is a short term event, unless you're Blessed to play long term, however, everyone will retire from the game at some point in this adventure. Ask kobe, Ray Allen etc.... the game don't last forever, but the degree can take you places that you never experience before in your life!!!

Every team needs a real and transparent coach like this. He'll be successful anywhere he goes. HS to D1. Crazy💯 He never promised he would stay at JSU he never ever ever said he would stay. This is his life. At the end of the day he's able to impact more people. More life's on a bigger scale. He gave them exposure, they won a championship, undefeated season, they had the opportunity of a lifetime if they didn't use it to their full ability that's on them. The 5 star true freshman did. He did what he needed to do. That's why he's going to Colorado with him because he's a dawg. Deion knows. And he's going to get him and many kids to the next level and help in many ways. He's trying to build MEN in many areas and he's doing so. He cares about the parents, grades, students, etc.... he served his purpose at that school. No coach in HBCU history brought the exposure that he did to a school. And got the #1 recruit and a 5 star to go to an hbcu..... he made history they made history they documented everything for them they will live in history... now he's about to do what he needs to do at the next level help people many people at a bigger place which means more lives are touched.. yall really think this is about football for one school? Na.. this is bigger than football this is about helping people in life and touching them through football/sports. He's done it as a player now as a coach. It's about helping people. Not the game. Helping more people.

The hypocrisy for Deion literally threatening those kids if they choose to sit and not partake in a bogus bowl game for whatever reason, but he can leave because he feels it’s an opportunity for him is comical. They have all the right to be salty and disappointed and choose to not play. He should provide all those kids the appropriate recommendations if they choose to leave regardless if they play or not. People keep saying this, but tbh I don't think a lot of the higher ranked kids will follow him to Colorado. They'll hop in the transfer portal and go to a big-name school. They went to JSU partly because of prime, but also because of the HBCU dream he sold them on. Now without the HBCU prestige (and a 1-11 record this year), CU doesn't have that type of draw for those kids. Guys like Travis Hunter will probably go back to their original commitment before they flipped to go to JSU.
