Hia, Just a little something different.
I have suffered with a problem for 11 years now and have finally just found out more about it.
I call it Deja vu brain blips.
I would love for all of you who suffer this to video response me with your experience and thoughts on it.
I dont think there is enough information on this and I assume there are loads of us out there living with it.
Here is a link you may find helpful.

I suffer with this quite frequently. I had 8 of these Deja vu episodes in a single day last week. Its really difficult to explain to people who haven’t experienced just how awful it makes you feel. However, it does make me feel much better knowing I’m not the only one who suffers with this!!!!

LCJR you know that this is epilepsy, right? Hope you have the chance to see a specialist to get this under control. If untreated the partial seizures (deja vus) can turn grand mal seizures.

This is exactly what I go through. I have been searching for similar people and descriptions for years. I have had these episodes 2-4+ times a year for the last 28 years. Usually starts when I am tired, or just waking up or when I am sick. It's really hard to describe because the most amazing and terrifying part of it, the deja vu stuff fades when it is over and you can't really put your finger on what you just experienced. It's amazing and horrible at the same time. Leaves me in a fog the rest of the day.

Same here. I forget everything that has happened once it’s over.. I know I was conscious and awake, but everything that was flashing through my mind, at what feels like a super high rate of speed and intensity, I have no memory of immediately afterward.

The deja vu moments are so scary it's like you've seen that moment in a dream, experienced it before or your minds playing tricks on you and you know feel as if everything that happens or is being said you already know its going to happen or be said. It brings a strong anxiety feeling on your stomach and heart and makes you sweat a lot more and breath heavier in the moment.

It's like a 2 minute horrible bad trip into your memories about things that never happened in your life but it feels like those things are in your head . When I have seizures I'm trying to remember this places and things its very hard because after the seizure all memories disappearing . I remember only that somebody is playing the piano I'm going down on stairs and sea and beach , and of course horrible freaky feeling like in horror movie .

Marta your description is so scary because of how familiar to me it is. I can be reading or watching television and every 5-30 seconds I’ll try to recall a certain word I read or hear as if it’s part of a phrase or quote or something I’m trying really hard to remember. But when I google the word or words not even google knows what my brain is thinking

Marta I have exact the same thing, I sometimes can control this so it wouldn't start by trying to distract my thoughts, by looking to the different things or start speaking, but when it starts you usually see the same "story" which you can recall before it ends, you can tell everything what is going to happen in your head like what you gonna hear or see in your head but afterwards you never remember what you were thinking about, only very little or nothing at all.. usually you talk nonsense if you try to talk while seizure even if you think you speak normally.. I'm 19 right now and I have these seizures since 10years old and I've only fainted 4 times.. I had so many seizures which gives me strong headache, sometimes vomiting feeling and a strange feeling after it ends..

I wouldn't wish them on anyone but like you said, its reassuring to know im not the only one. They're so hard to explain, & prob wouldn't be half as bad if it wasn't for the 'fear' that literally swamps my body 😢 I can see you left your comment along time ago but even so have you been able to do anything to help you deal with them b'cos They're ruining my life. The Gp's don't know what to say or do and I've been left to trying cope alone and in all honesty I don't know how much longer I can carry on, like I said their ruining my life. Same symptoms exactly! I usually have a headache too and every once in awhile auras that blur my vision. These started a few years ago after a bad ear infection. The first night it was constant and it felt like waves. I could feel it coming and it scared me each time. It would roll over me, peak, then slowly start again. I fainted twice. One time I was standing and the next thing I know I am on the floor, waking up. My eyes were rolled to the right. The haven’t been as intense as that first time but they make me feel bad with a headache and messes up at least one day

This has been happening to me for a couple years. I, too, feel I can "predict" what's about to happen or be said, but afterward can't recall anything that was said or the vivid "memory" I had. Mine are also on a monthly basis but last for several days. During this "phase," I feel anxious all the time. I found out this is Catamenial Epilepsy - seizures induced by hormone variance. The neurologist was clueless when I tried to describe these - my EEG was normal. I'm about to see an endocrinologist.

I get these, mainly in the shower and I know it’s the same de ja vu story ever time but I really could tell you what it is. My stomach drops and I feel so sick and it’s like the story takes over my vision and makes everything go blank. I’m knackered for like 2 days after. It started happening 4ish years ago when I got punched and I fell and hit the back of my head. So not sure if that’s linked. I sometimes have different kind of moments where I don’t get de ja vu but I blank and my body goes all stiff and I shake but I don’t really remember them. So odd but I’m so glad I’ve found this to word what I couldn’t

I get deja reve during mine. Which is like deja vu, but with dreams instead of actual events. It really seems like I'm remembering an actual dream but I'm not sure if I really am. After it ends, I can't remember what the dream was. I just always remember thinking that it was fairly mundane, but it still feels incredibly intense. It's such a crazy sensation, like you're on drugs, a bad trip. I haven't had one in two years so maybe I've grown out of them? I'm 33, and they started when I was 14. The biggest triggers were the sun and computer screens. As I got older, they became more random without any identifiable trigger. I still often get these moments when I feel like one is about to start, but it doesn't. It also makes me feel like I'm going to vomit, but I rarely do. Has anyone else vomited because of one? I also think they have destroyed my memory, and the damage has attributed to my anxiety disorder but that's all speculation.

I remember watching this video over ten years ago and showing it to my mom and sister because the experience was actually way too overwhelming to put into words. “Deja vu” can be categorized in many ways but there are so many other factors that came with this. I experienced these episodes for about ten years and I can definitely pinpoint it to an electric shock I felt after hitting my head on the steel bar of a yellow swing set in elementary school. When the electric shock was over with I remember tasting blood on the inside of my cheek but I had no recollection of biting my cheek because the electric shock was so overwhelming. I had NO idea what these things were but I would stay home from school when I had them. Just as this woman explains, they would reap their torment about once month or so and last all day, in my experience. My mom would beg me to see a doctor but I wouldn’t want to leave my house when I had them. I could only tolerate familiarity on the days when I was experiencing them. I didn’t know how to explain them to a doctor at that young of age other than saying “scary deja vu”. And as described in this video, you feel the deja vu VERY intensely and the feelings that accompany before and after (our of body experience, sweating, tiredness, euphoria the day after), but what I never wanted to talk about when I was younger or even now is that immense, terrifying feeling of dread. I don’t even have the vocabulary to describe the feeling to this day. Please seek help if you have these because in my case they turned into grand mal seizures (which was a blessing in my case because I found out that they were seizures). I am now on medication and I haven’t had once of these in about 10 years.

I had this about 30 minutes ago, everything is normal then bam out of nowhere deja Vu, I zone out, I start feeling sick, body heats up so I start sweating, I struggle breathing and everything around me stops but after it I don't remember much what happened. I've been having it for the past 2 years on and off and I kinda like the sudden high feeling of it, it's normally triggered by bright green or a past dream I've had. I don't know if to seek help or not because I don't think it's serious enough...

Me, too, I find the experience of it rather interesting. It always blows out my recent memory for awhile, usually takes several hours to remember what I was doing. Have not figured out what the triggers are, except I do get them if I am really tired and have not slept much. My neurologist ordered a mess of tests that I took in the hospital setting. At the conclusion of my recent history, then, about 2 years ago, he told me, "Don't know if it is seizure related or migraine related.", since I have suffered migraines for years prior to these "partial onset seizures" . He gave me Keppra 250 mg, one tablet, every 12 hours seems to control it most of the time. He did not restrict me driving my car or truck which I think is rather odd. I don't drive much anymore---don't want to kill somebody! Has anybody had these while driving?

I have been dealing with this off and on for years now. At first I thought that maybe this was just me... but now I guess I’m not alone. It always feels like Deja Vu. I don’t feel depressed after it, and honestly it feels exciting... Almost like I’m chasing something i can’t remember and the closer I get to it the farther it gets away. My heart races and I get short of breath. It often happens in the middle of something like when I’m teaching a class, and i have to attempt to fight through this intense wave of familiar emotion. Like, it all seems very real and clear in the moment but when it’s passed I can’t remember what it was that I was recalling. It’s so hard to explain but the way you explain it sounds so similar to my experience. Now I’m a little shook and a little scared to think I might be having seizures but also it’s a little comforting to know I’m not the only one.

REALLY familiar fleeting memory plus as it subsides I almost immediately lose grip of what the really familiar dejavu feelings were and I can't remember them at all. Had one today, left me feeling really hazy and off the rest of the day. It was so scary the first few times. occurs now and then, sometimes 2-3x a week others like not, not for a month then a single one. had a brain scan and it was clear, suspected of having seizures, havent got to the bottom of it. Happens more often when I have had a lot of caffeine and/or not a lot to eat that day. first time I was in a shop, it was horrible. Changes my entire mindset after it happens.

More than that, a dream realm, other world...something like that. So familiar that how could I have ever forgotten. Then when it's over I can't remember anything that I was thinking about. I thought I was crazy the first few times till I did research. I've been to my doctor, a neurologist, gotten an MRI and EEG and they found no evidence of seizures. illustrationdresser I got my first episodes at the age of 10 (now I'm 19), episodes were very often 5-9 times per day nearly the whole week but not every week, usually in Autumn and Spring, then it started appearing less often, sometimes I didn't have them for months. The first time when I had my episode and then fainted was when I was 15 years old then 2 years later I had my second episode with fainting ( I had many in between that time without fainting, only de ja vu episodes ) and then 2 years later again, 3 days ago I had to episodes with fainting. I didn't have any episodes for 9-10months so it was a bit scary.. my doctors still can't find anything..

Thanks for posting this - I know it's an old video but you describe what I'm going through right now. I've had them on and off for several years now. The episodes occur for a week or two and suddenly stop for months...in this case, almost a year. It's a feeling of Deja Ve, then suddenly it feels like I'm being ripped away from my body. Almost like a panic attack with the sudden feeling I may mess myself but I don't? Lasts for about 30 seconds. Afterward, I have a tired yet euphoric feeling...like the "happy pills" you described. Sometimes a cold sweat as well. May happen twice a day, sometimes only once. It's scary but it's not anything I feel is life-threatening. My heart doesn't beat erratically, there isn't any pain.

I also have very good memory, which is bad in these episodes because I can always remember the details of the episode itself. I remember every little thing about how my brain is altered, and even remember doing the 'automatisms' or meaningless movements. It has completely changed my life. I wish I could be like you..

Hi Marta, this post is quite old but I am wondering how are you these days? Your video actually helped me to find out that these weird episodes that I was having are focal, partial seizures. I had an increasingly journey of seeing several psychologists who described my symptoms as part of depression and OCD. I don’t need to tell you that this was of course bs. In a desperate moment I started googling my symptoms and came across your video, which describes, down to the very last detail, what I have going on. After that, I made an appointment at the neurologist and, drumroll, it is epilepsy. All my actual epilepsy test came negative (there are no adequate test for partial focal seizures) and so the neurologist did a differential diagnosis and concluded epilepsy. I was relieved and scared at the same time. Over a year now, I have been trying out several meds, some of them help, some of them don’t. I just wanted to know what you are doing now and if there has been any change with your episodes?

I wasn't even sure if I was having partial seizures, because they never found anything on all the tests they've ran on me. I experience a lot of the same stuff you're describing with the dejavu, feeling like your brains fried afterwards along with feeling nauseous. Once I've had one, I know it's going to be a long day of having several because one usually triggers several more leaving me zonked and just wanting to go to sleep. The only trigger I've noticed for myself, is when I'm sleep deprived. Anyways thanks again for your video, I intend to show it to my doctor, family and friends and anybody I'm trying to describe what I'm going through.

I get these moments that are totally random (I can't understand the logic of why they occur when they do) when I start remembering a dream (or really bits of a dream) and I remember that it already happened before, but I know that it actually never really did happen and that it just feels like it. It feels good for a bit and I actually kind of enjoy it in a way, but then there's also an element of light nausea which gets stronger within a minute or two. The nausea isn't that bad really, and it's pretty manageable. I just feel really disoriented and while I seem to be able to function and talk to people, when the episode is over I'm still fuzzy in my mind and I have no idea whether what I've said or done was totally okay (though everything seems fine). I also can't remember what was in the "dream" though I really want to. The overall experience is just weird and confusing if not pleasant. What's not pleasant is not understanding it and being really scared that something is wrong with me.

Oh wow, I came across this old video while researching seizures and I had these in high school (around 2016-2017) and had no idea what they were. I was experiencing a lot of panic attacks at the time and it was the worst my anxiety ever was to this day. I was anxious almost all the time and just thinking about panic attacks made me panic. I started having these mini episodes of deja vu but like everything I was experiencing had happened before in a dream. All at once I had that feeling, everything felt distant and weird, I felt super hot and sweaty, nauseous, like I was going to throw up and pass out. It would fade after about 30 seconds but so much happened at once it would really knock the wind out of my sails and I’m sure I looked pale and detached. I never mentioned this to my parents or doctor because I thought it was just a weird side effect of my panic disorder. I started having them a bit again when my mental health took a nose dive in 2018. I haven’t had a bad one of these in years but I feel one come on occasionally but am able to somewhat stop it in its tracks and allow myself to calm down. Perhaps mine was brought on by the stress and trauma of that time in my life. I hope to never experience those again it was truly terrible.

Hi, I was just curious as to whether you had had a referral to a neurologist and a diagnosis. You are definitely describing all of my symptoms and symptoms typical of temporal lobe epilepsy, I have TLE but I'm now controlled via medication (Lamotrogine/Lamictal). My life is back to normal now, I'm driving again and hold down a full time job. TLE is an horrendous illness and is very scary to cope with, I ended up in psychiatric care on various occasions due to suffering from clusters of seizures over days, leading to postictal psychosis. The giddiness and feeling of awe that you describe is referred to as 'postictal bliss'. After my seizures were over and I was back to normal, it would feel as though I'm in a new world, much brighter and happier than the previous one. During the actual seizures though, mine are always filled with dread. I can feel like only I exist and the meaning of the universe is being revealed to me and it is incredibly scary, scarier than anything I can try and imagine, if I was to try and imagine hell, it would not come close to the feeling.

This sounds like the kind of type I have. Only that for me the deja vu feels like i've been there countless times before and that this world feels so automated somehow. It feels like I live my life over and over.

My gf has been telling me, for 2 years now, about her "deja vo" experiences. Until last week I have always thought she was being dramatic and i couldn't understand why she kept making such a big deal about it. I was actually starting to get a little annoyed... Now I feel like a giant asshole... Well... Last week she had her first grand mal seizure, at work (she's an RN). She was in the middle of talking to another nurse and just fell to the floor and started seizing... A few months back she started getting headaches on one side of the front of her head. She has also experienced the deja vo atleast once a week for the past few months, much more frequently then ever before (she said she's had "deja vo" since she was a child). When the neurologist told us that these were mini seizures, I started doing some research. What I found blew me away... Part of me is absolutely fascinated by this becsue it's very interesting, but part of me is scared for someone I love. Why don't ppl know about this?? Her step father is a doctor (ENT) and he had never heard about this. Blows my mind how few ppl in the medical feild know about this.

I have these "deja vu" feelings ever since I was little, about when I was 7. But with mine I actully go deaf and I can't talk to anyone when I have it but I can walk around but it makes me feel very nervous and like an out of body feeling. I makes me feel like nothing is 'real' I have always just called them deaf spells cuz idk what else they were. The deja vu feeling doesn't always happen when I get my deaf spells. I have gotten it when I get woken up fast. Or when I get scared.

I’m having it right now. Except mine is lasting. It’s still happening rn, I think it started like 30 minutes ago. I just feel like everything’s already happened. I started experiencing the deja vu after I felt my anxiety coming on. I also felt quick deja vu a few days ago. The only difference is that this one is lasting. It’s really scary and I don’t know why it’s happening but if it’s happening.

You have medial temporal lobe seizures. This is not a frontal lobe problem. Some people will perceive a horrible toxic-metallic smell during the seizure -- so you are lucky you don't have that. Get an MRI to see if there is a physical reason for the problem. Otherwise, ask your doctor about a good anti-epileptic medication for MTL seizures. With a long course of medication sometimes people will stop having seizures and can stop taking medication.

I've had this since a teenager (i'm 45 now). It used to happen only few times a year. One time in my 20's I was out at a party and passed out several times. Sometimes I could go years without an episode. Never been diagnoised and the one MRI or ECG scan I had (can not remember what it was), showed nothing wrong apparently! Always thought there was something wrong and unual. Been told it was pain free migraine auras to something else! Already have a vit B12 deficiency. Bit scared to go back to the GP! :/

Pretty much. It seems worse around the fall season. I have been OK. I still get a weird feeling but comes and goes really quick . I would get a dejavu. Then I would like get really scared because I would think that I really had done or dreamed what was seeing. Then everything starts to look weird and let get ringing in my ears. My legs don't work and l can't talk. This started when l was round 12. My family doctor never believed me. Then l had a grand Mal when I was about 37. When in the hospital, l was given a brain Dr. She asked if l ever had weird feelings and said I have dejavus. She knew exactly what l was talking about. So lucky for me l was able to finish school and have 2 babies before they started to dope me up😊. Now lam 45 and I think I good. But my family doctor still has no clue and she starting to question my meds. I may have to contact the doctor from hospital and make an appointment with her again. I don't want to have another grand Mal. I have to work.

This condition has had me baffled for years as I couldn’t explain what was happening to me to my doctor apart from saying I felt nauseas. It’s started when I started wearing reading glasses like 9 years ago and I put the condition down to that. After a few years I realised there was more going on but couldn’t find out what was causing it as it had bizarre symptoms. Anyway now I am in my 60’s and it happens to me every month for 3 days and happens 2-3 times each of the 3 days and even in my sleep. I feel it come on with a strange feeling of deja vu , feeling alone , gloom . It doesn’t last long thank god as it has happened while I was driving. On the days it happens I am really tired that night. It’s amazing how it happens around the same 3 days / dates each month. Thank you for posting this video and all the helpful comments from everyone.

Looked up my symptoms on KZbin and end up at the very first KZbinr I subscribed to describing my own experiences 100%... I think these can be either epileptic or psychogenic temporal lobe seizures. Wow, I can't thank you enough for making this video. I've been experiencing almost exactly the same symptoms for about 6 years and always thought they were panic attacks. But of course that never made sense... I even tried to desensitize myself to "triggers", but they always just came out of nowhere when I felt fine. Your video spurred me to do some research and I'm convinced this is what I have. They only happen every one or two months in clusters. I guess I'll go to the neurologist soon :)
