Stubborn headed coaching and lack of creativity on both sides of the ball is this teams biggest downfall.

At this point why even bother getting into the playoffs?
@dabsteelpimp3 күн бұрын
Yeah, I don't know who's carrying the majority of the blame, if it's Austin not utilizing the blitz and playing soft zone shells, if it's Smith running into a stacked box on first down and not calling many crossing routes, Russ's inability to see the middle, or the head coach for overruling needed changes, i.e., starting Cam over Beanie... Without being in the room, I would stop short of applying blame to any individual, but completely acknowledge the existence of these problems and the need for urgent and meaningful change

Im sorry, I just cant believe one player messing up is why this Defense has been torched the last 3 games. With all the Really good to Elite players we have at every level on D , coaching and scheme has got to be more of an issue than the players or “ Player” not executing their job correctly . Little or no Blitzing , no Adjustments , guys consistently look lost in the secondary . Minkah or whoever is playing free safety playing 50 yards of the ball essentially being completely taken out of every play. We are playing with 10 guys out there. For what? Are we that afraid of the hail mary pass?? Good Lord

Same strategy the patriots used on the Steelers since 2001. Quick passes dink and dunk down the field cancelling out the pass rush. Steelers slow to react and when they finally do adjust it was usually game out of reach or if close then Brady would hit them deep or up the seam killing them over and over. Obviously you need a really good quarterback to pull it off consistently which explains why the Steelers win more than they lose, but the weakness of the defense has been the same since cowher. To DKs point you can throw more blitzes to counter it but great quarterbacks eat that up. Pick your poison and hope the offense can keep up worked in the past, but not so much the past few years with the Steelers 1950s three and out battle of attrition offensive scheming

Another solid presentation of what the Steelers need to do to right the Jolly Roger. Oh ... sorry ... wrong team. But there sure do seem to be more than a few bad coaching/managing actions catching on around town lately. Loved Chris's input, too. Great observations and insight.

You'd think a $40 million QB would be able to use the entire field, & not just 0-5 & 15+ yards, mostly outside the numbers? Cover 2 & it's variants automatically become the perfect D. It's pretty clear that the league has the Steelers version of #3 figured out. I hope I'm wrong though 🤞.
@SteelSoosh3 күн бұрын
A change up to score early can simply be purposeful, coming out with Warren and no huddle. This will help overcome the formality and pride of having Najee trot out there as the official starting RB.
@frisky5713 күн бұрын
It's either they don't see what you and we see or it can't be fixed. After an entire season, it's that simple. I'm sure stubborn is a factor....Pride comes before a fall.

The number that will define this season is 3. 3 seconds. Russ needs 3 seconds to get one of our slow-developing plays off. The games where we've struggled, I think the success rate at 3 seconds must have been quite low. Then for one game, they through quick outs and little dumps to Jalen Warren (I think it was the Bengals). If I'm Mike T I'd challenge Arthur Smith to find ways to shave time off of each play or Russ is going to get beat up and we are not going to score much. Love this format DK!

18:39 the answer? coaching is the problem. Steelers big game plan (and it's supported by the money they are spending and on who) is to w rely on the front line of the defense to disrupt, if they can't they don't have anything to fall back on. Steelers are probably the weakest on fundamentals...and besides Minkah in the secondary, barely any of these guys can tackle, pass cover...if the basic fundamentals aren't happening and players are kinda staring at each other in miscommunication or waiting for splash opportunities then you aren't in a good position. Also, Steelers Defense has been allowing teams to slam that ball down their throats in almost every 1st half of every game. That's tough on defense and offense I mean the general answer is, Steelers haven't been a good team for over 8-9 years now...and we talking different players and assistants? getting the same results year after year no matter who? Mike Tomlin, that's who...

I feel like the unsaid but logical conclusion (of the offense portion) of this video is that Arthur Smith is just doing a straight up bad job at the short/intermediate pass game design… kinda like Mr. Austin isn’t adjusting (punching back) in his blitz-absent defensive schemes. And doesn’t this all this just come back to Tomlin being a stubborn leader?

Turnovers on offense and missed coverages on defense, it’s as easy as that. It’s not rocket science why they’re losing!!

They gave up a deep ball to Jamar Chase, in what was supposed to be garbage time, while in PREVENT defense. The only other player within 15 yards of Chase was Tee Higgins. Teams figured out their scheme around the bye week. They've only had a "good" game against the Ravens at home since.

How do you fix the high level QB play. Here's my answer to that dilemma. I quote Bill Cowher. I don't what you do rather you have to get into the two points or whatever I want you to rush the Quarterback!! Get to the Quarterback. Disrupt there passing lanes . Sack and destroy there Quarterback. In response. Greene and loyal got to the quarterback for six games straight. These linebacker need to Disrupt this passing attack tomorrow and beyond with discipline and execution. Play your strength with extreme prejudice

Ok, what happened to scheme for players you have? Forgive me if i am wrong, but I do not believe that Jalen (tho i really like him) can survive very long with the snap count Najee gets. I do not believe he is durable enough. Durability alone is the reason we should keep Najee. Imho

Minkah has been treated above his station. He has his own office in the facility and is nowhere near as good as DeShon Elliot. There's money there that can be used on the offense for a premier LT and just draft Minkah's replacement.

Minkahs a free safety. Deshon is a strong safety. They play 2 different roles lol. Yeah it’s a down year for mink but I don’t think Elliot could do minkahs job. If you watch the tape they aren’t throwing his way often. Our DB’s are a bigger problem.

The D is top heavy with Senior players(TJ, Cam, Minkah)...thus not value of "highest" paid as there are many younger players or players on the cheap. Just like the pendulum can swing the other way with offense.

@@samgayle9629it's just what fans & media do 🤷♂️. You don't have to like it but it's not changing anytime soon. To the original poster: DK & his outlet are the BEST in Pittsburgh doing it - but the dismissal of Broderick's much improved play does kind of drive me crazy. Every time he says it, I comment on how much better Brod has been & how it's #65 who regressed to the mean: which is what's usually expected from a guy who was an older rookie & still struggled mightily in year 3.

@@samgayle9629I wouldn’t hold stock in any coach hired by Tomlin. Look no further than Matt Canada. He became the first coach fired in season in Pittsburgh in over 80 years. He had been around ball for over 30 years. Want another example? Pat Meyer. Another coach who’s been around over 30 years who isn’t worth crap. If I’m Art Rooney, someone needs to explain to me why Kevin Dotson looked like a lost cause, leaves town and suddenly gets it almost instantly when he got away from Pittsburgh. Same thing with Robert Spillane. Steelers pay Queen, yet Spillane had the better season. Just like Dotson, Spillane will get paid this offseason
