A bird's eye view of the harvest of a corn variety test. 5 DeKalb corn varieties were tested, with DKC 69-29 VT Triple Pro coming out on top. Samples were also taken for aflatoxin, and these came back very low, less than 40ppb
Filmed with a QAV 500 quadcopter and GoPro 3 Silver. Flight controller was Zero UAV's YS-X4. Also using Dragonlink with Immersion RC 5.8 600mw Vtx. to Fat Shark Predator goggles... Thanks for watching!

Thanks! With regard to irrigation, it is flood irrigation, and yes, they do have to keep it pretty wet, especially during pollination. I would estimate this grower put on about 5 acre-feet to make the crop.

288 bushels per acre in Arizona?! Wow, that's awesome! Just curious though, how does irrigation work out there? Do they pour the water on constantly, or are they limited in how much they can use like urban areas are? Like Scott Hinch commented on the other video, I never imagined Arizona to be a corn-growing place. Great video though!

Water availability and pricing varies a lot in Arizona, but we have a pretty robust reservoir and delivery system. So, for a desert, we have quite a bit of water!

Very cool. I live on a corn/soybean farm in Eastern Iowa, and I've been researching rolling/crimping rye as a cover crop to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Do you know of anyone there who uses this method? Maybe even without irrigation? I've heard of farmers in areas of North Dakota doing this and they only get 12" of precipitation a year! Tucson gets slightly more than that

36,000 seeds per acre at 38-inch row spacing = 1 seed every *4.6 inches*. That seems like pretty close spacing.

that's what we do in Iowa. could have increased the population this year because of the perfect weather
