Imagine my surprise (only a year ago) to discover that a bona fide surviving member of Bob Wills' Texas Playboys lived just a couple miles away from me. After meeting Jerry Case, learning his history, picking a little bit with him, and hearing his fascinating stories, I invited him over to the house for an interview about his career. Of course, we had to get a little picking in, as well. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

Deke Dickerson, you sir are an amazing waking, talking Encylopedia of American Music. Hearing the stories from Jerry Case is fantastic. Thank you, Deke for all that you do. I am a 76-year-old retired bass player. I worked from 1961 to 2022.

Met you at Willie’s Guitar in St. Paul in August a few years ago. I didn’t know your credentials but on YT I’ve learned a lot. You are an awesome musician and like Marty Stuart, you are documenting great musicians.

Wow, amazing he backed Joe Carson and knew the Wynn Stewart band... and backed Willie Nelson back in the day!? So cool... and I didn't even get to the Bob Wills days. Now I'm listening to you and Jerry slay on one of my Western swing favorites -- "Roly Poly!" Thank you, Deke!

The funny thing about guys like you is when you make mean-spirited comments about something as joyous as this video, all you do is expose how small you are and how jealous you are of people living their best life. Everybody sees it. So sorry buddy, I've got a fun life to live....smell you later
