Phundla - Mohini Devi's Performance @ Brave Festival 2013, Poland

Spheres of Kalbeliyas act are divided: men plays instruments and women dance. The main instrument is Been -- an Indian woodwind instrument originally used to hypnotize snakes. It's both plaintive and seductive tones are accompanied by beats of Dhap and Dafli, creating very energetic and compelling rhythms. Dancers wear traditional black ankle-length skirt and top. Both are richly embellished with colorful strips and complemented with beautiful jewelry made from tiny pearls and silver hangings. Outfit completes a dupatta -- a long loose flowing stole pinned to dancers' heads. Kalbeliya dancers spinning fast, swaying their hips, swirling tassels and shawl can mesmerize viewer for long hours.
Mohini Devi group -- representative of nowadays Kalbeliyas is an ensemble of about seven musicians who did not receive any formal education, but were instead learning music from an early age from their guru Kalunath Kalbeliya. They have gained international recognition and many of the dancers lived, performed and even taught this style abroad. Mohini Devi group is also proficient at many other dances like Bhavai, Chari, Ghummar, Terah Taali and add on elements of fire shows and acrobatics in their performance.

यह गीत उस 22 वर्षीय पूनम सिंह भाटी बांके नौजवान क्षत्रिय योद्धा की वीरता के लिए स्थानीय कलाकारों द्वारा गाया गया है,1965 के भारत पाक युद्ध के दौरान भुट्टों वाली पोस्ट को बचाने के लिए अपने मात्र चार राजस्थान पुलिस के साथियों के साथ पूरी पाकिस्तानी बटालियन के दांत खट्टे कर दिए और पोस्ट को सुरक्षित बचाया और खुद शहीद हो गए थे। धन्य धरा राजपुताना 🙏🙏

The Song was been sung for Great Bhati warrior Poonam Singh. The actual Title is Punla... Nick Name of Poonam Singh. Sung in the memories of Poonam Singh who was to go his home on leave, but the moment he got to know that Pakistani Army have attacked on his post he returned towards his post from the middle of his way to home. Thats why in this song they are requesting him not to go there. Life threat is there. But he didn't stopped himself as he was a kshatreeya. He was martyred in that war but saved his post. In the memories of great warrior Poonam Singh this song used to be sung. Please correct me if i am wrong. Thanks 😊
