Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZbin, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZbin. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZbin, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Del was the man. He influence the early Beatles. (Please Please Me, From Me To You, Thank You Girl) Del was also the first American artist to record and release a Beatle song (From Me To You, summer' '63. They toured together in the UK. I saw him way back when. He also had a hit with the Stones "Under My Thumb". Before his suicide Tom Petty produced him as well as Mike Campbell. Neil Young used the chords of this to write"Like A Hurricane". Del's "Hats Off To Larry" was a big follow-up hit.

Tbf, the chord changes are a staple of Spanish music and predate rock by centuries. The chord sequence is known as the Andalusian Cadence.

Del Shannon was big in the early 60's. The song "Runaway" is often used in movies and TV shows and has been a hit on the charts more than once. He had several hits which include "Keep Searchin' (Follow the Sun)", "Little Town Flirt", "Hat's Off to Larry", and "Handy Man."

Shawn, this reaction is proof why you're one of the best on youtube. You went into this with no expectations and, in no time, recognized a great song even though it's from generations gone by. But others have recognized it's greatness too - Tom Petty, in Runnin Down A Dream (one of my favorites from him and one you should react to if you don't know it), sang "me and Del were singing, Little Runaway". Tom was also included in a group of artist that tried to help Del revive his career later in life. There's some songs that transcend time and genres to be all-time greats, Little Runaway is on that list. BTW, completely unrelated, you should take a listen to Welcome To The Boomtown by David and David.

"Runnin' down a Dream" is a song by Tom Petty that features Del Shannon. Years later, despondent over his lagging career, Del sadly committed suicide. The very night before Tom attempted calling him to invite him into his friend Georges new group, "The Traveling Wilburys". Remember kids, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Del Shannon was one of the greats!!! I've personally always thought of Del in the similar musical vein of Dion, though Dion had more grit in his delivery ("Runaround Sue" and "The Wanderer"). Shawn, I KNOW you'd really enjoy hearing some Dion (His full name was Dion DiMucci but he just went professionally by Dion). You also should react to Gene Vincent ("Be-Bop-a-Lula" and "Lotta Lovin'") if you haven't already! A true legend in early rock and roll.

Shawn super reaction. Del Shannon was way ahead of his time. Del spent lots of time in the UK especially with John Lennon, Del was the first artist to cover a McCartney/Lennon tune and have it charted on Billboard's Hot 100 singles charts, before any Beatles single. Keith Richards also hung out with Del as well as Gene Pitney. Del had several big hits in the 1960's. In 1981 Del sought out Tom Petty to produce Del's lp "Drop Down And Get Me" which included a cover of the 1959 Phil Phillips hit "Sea Of Love".

Del Shannon was one of the most productive singers of the '60s and has influenced tons of later artists you probably know well including the Beatles, Tom Petty, the Bee Gees and hundreds of others. He was a member of the '80s group, The Traveling Wilburys. He has many classic songs including "Keep Searchin'", "Stranger in Town," "Little Town Flirt," and "So Long Baby." The "strange" instrument was a Mellotron, the first time that instrument was ever used in a rock song.

One of the classic Rock 'n' Roll songs. It's sad no one here recommended it. I personally, only recommend songs by the artist on the post you are listening to. Unless, like Del Shannon, I don't know any other songs by them. Classic R 'n' R songs in this vein, Runaround Sue or the Wanderer by Dion, Secret Agent Man by Johnny Rivers, Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley and His Comets, Wipeout by the Safaris, Pipeline by the Chantays.... And let me take this opportunity to recommend anything by Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, early Elvis....

Del Shannon was incredibly popular his music was always about love lost starting with runaway and then there's little town flirt and then there's hats off to Larry we're probably his three biggest that I can remember he committed suicide in 1990 I believe severe depression I guess you can imagine from going top of the list and then all of a sudden you're kind of irrelevant in a way but I love Dell and I love this era that you're doing take a deeper dive into Dell I think you'll enjoy his other two songs very typical 60s the song takes me to 1963 keep spreading the music around🎉 great reaction brother love your spirit

Shawn: Ace Records in the UK released a series of 16 CDs in the 1990s entitled "The Golden Age Of American Rock 'n' Roll". The series concentrated on American records released between 1954 and 1963 i.e. the period before the "British Invasion". It is an incomplete collection as it doesn't contain artists from major labels (e.g. Elvis Presley, RCA). But what it does show is the energy and diversity of these "smaller" labels. I believe the CDs have been out of print for a long while but if you enter "The Golden Age Of American Rock 'n' Roll" in YT, Discogs or 45Worlds you will get a list of hundreds of tracks worth your attention. Most of the tracks will be on YT. 😄

I first heard this song in the movie "American Grafitti" which had an amazing soundtrack and introduced me to some of the great music that came out about a decade or so earlier than I was used to hearing. The songs in the movie were so good that I went out and bought the soundtrack album. My dad who wanted absolutely nothing to do with any of the music I was into at the time i.e. (Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, etc) surprised me one day when he knocked on the door of my room. This song was playing on the stereo in my room and instead of him asking me to turn the music down as was the norm, he asked me if I could play the song again. I remember he loved the wah, wah, wah, wah, wah part and after that requested I play it from time to time. It made me so happy that we both liked the same song. When I was very young, my dad and I both shared an appreciation of songs we heard on the radio. during my teen years, that rarely happened anymore, this was an exception and this song has an extra special meaning for me. I think of my dad smiling, every time that I hear it. Thanks for your reaction to this sweet song!💜
