I'm sorry, but I never could understand why, when people are celebrating someone accomplishments and enjoying their talents, someone always feels they have to drag up something negative about them. Can't we just appreciate and cherish him for the GOOD he did ???

When this record first came out it sounded like something from a different galaxy. Indeed, there's no way that younger people can hear this with the same ears as we had back then. If you like this record, then you'd have to multiply that "like" by 100 to get anywhere near the "like factor" that we felt at the time.

Loved this great song 60 yrs ago still do. Was so popular it was selling 80,000 copies daily for a few weeks. The cool sound was made by a Musitron an early version of a synthesizer. The 60s were definitely the most upbeat decade for music. The video is really cool.

Oh WOW! This brought back a lot of good memories. I saw Del Shannon at the first concert I ever attended. It was the early 60s and I was a very young teenager. (I still can't believe my parents allowed me to go.) I remember being so excited while waiting in line to get into our seats in the FIRST row!! There were probably about 300 or so screaming teens in the audience who sung every word to every song performed. I still have his autograph (!) in a box of memorabilia from that time - Bobby Rydell's autograph, too! They put on a great show - such talent! Great reaction!

My Mom passed suddenly on February 15th 2020. Once when I was around 6 or 7 I had had a really bad day at school, she sat me on the stairs, put this song on and disappeared into the kitchen. She came back with a wooden spoon in her hand and she lip synced this song and we ended up just dancing and singing. She was amazing and I miss her everyday. ❤😢

Del had the first synthesizer in rock, a gadget called the musitron, played by Max Crook. Del had a bunch of hits but people could not get enough of that sound. Then people began to get all they could handle of that sound from a band called the Beatles who could be described as 4 Del Shannons. They toured England with Del in their early days. Del had a hit with one of their songs before they did "From Me To You". Del was the first big preview of the British invasion, 3 years before The Beatles hit in the USA. HERE ARE 2 GREAT DEL SHANNON SONGS TO REACT TO : 1. - "So Long, Baby" and2. - "Handy Man". Both these are vastly different but with that special style.

I’ve known people that I worked with for thirty years that killed themselves. One guy has an issue with alcohol, and that issue led to a much bigger occurrence, one that he couldn’t cope with. And he did it right in front of his family. Everyone needs pals. Someone to help them cope with things. Nothing is that bad.

I'm in love with the tones... For years I couldn't figure out how come so much modern music didn't work for me, but I have finally realized it's because of the tones... Del Shannon, the last time I remember seeing him perform was on the David Letterman show. He was still good. The next thing I knew, I read in the paper he was gone. He took his own life, shot himself in the head with a 22 caliber rifle. So sad. Anyway, I wish you would consider doing some songs from the Platters.
