I'm in total agreement with those commenters identifying these cats as 'imposter group'. Whether original Del Viking, Gus Backus, gave his blessing or not this lineup of 'Del Vikings' is so far from the mark both historically and voice-wise that it should be identified as a tribute group to the original Del Vikings.

Yes, they did. But no, not illegal, as far as I can recall. They had permission from Gus Backus and went through proper channels. One of these guys was playing with an incarnation of The Del Vikings in the 90s. Everyone wants to see the originals, me included, but with bands, or in this case singing groups, members come and members go, but the name lives on. It's up to the original guys to decide if they are okay with it. Also on the bill at this show was Randy And The Rainbows (2 original members Dominick/Frank Safuto), The Cookies (1 original member Margaret Ross Williams), and Ron Coleman of The Del Roys.

Let me educate you a little... yes they are not original members, but they do have the blessing of the last original member, Gus Backus, to continue on as The Del Vikings and to keep the music of The Del Vikings alive. Sound nothing like Del Vikings. Although there were many changes in their original lineups due to committement and being called up to different places during their army days, Del Vikings always sounded Great. There were always some original members in everyone of their lineups. Del Vikings were one of the earliest Doo Wop acts, formed in 1955 when they actually recorded their 1957 Billboard 100 hit, titled 'Come Go With Me'. I think it reached No2 on Billboard charts and selling a Million records that year. Don't know for certain but, I think it was Elvis Presley that kept them from reaching the top spot. Just who are these guys? Well definitely not Del Vikings, and if you look closely there are more than two whites which never happened with original Del Vikings where there were only ever two or even only just one white in any of their lineups.

Of course, they would not be like the original singers!! Those were the original doo wop singers, cannot be imitated .my only criticism is that the lead singer was drowned out, so you couldn't hear him singing, which is a shame as its not a bad rendition.

You're right, although formed in 1955 when all of their members were black and, I think it was in 1956 that first white member was recruited when some of the originals had to leave when called up to different places as part of their army service.
